I don't think it's humanly possible anymore for one performer to make the Oscars "special." Charlie Chaplin did it in 1972 when he came to accept his honorary Oscar. Marlon Brando did it the following year by not showing up, instead sending a stand-in, an actress in "Indian" garb, to read a speech turning down his Oscar for THE GODFATHER. The year after that, a fellow "streaked" across the stage during Elizabeth Taylor's appearance. That was "special."

Oh dear God......are you fucking kidding me? Kevin Hart is hosting!?? Can't stand the guy. Even if you're a fan, this is not the type of gig where his shtick will work. Maybe the Grammy's or something hipper. That I get, still wouldn't watch though. I'm going to start watching the show an hour or so after it starts so I can fast forward past him.

At a guess, make at least a dozen jokes that are all variations of "I'm taller than this Oscar".

Ugh. Or talk about how White the Oscars are.

Kevin Hart is probably the exact level of safe non political comedy that they've been looking for. He's as non-woke as you can get. The guy literally just had a cowboys and indians themed birthday party for his kid. And when he got called out on it he doubled down on his stupidity.

And the award for the best Super Bowl snub goes to ...

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway giving the Best Picture Award to the wrong film was pretty damn memorable.

Kevin Hart is a better businessman than he is a comedian. He has marginal talent, but he's been nothing less than a genius in parlaying that marginal talent into monumental success. He just isn't funny.

At least it is not Kimmel again.

Who is going to host the 2019 Golden Globes?

With any luck they bring back Tina Fey & Amy Poehler.

I'm not Hart's biggest fan but I don't see the show being worse with him. I don't think that's physically possible.

This sounds about right. Although, I wouldn't say he isn't funny; I'd say we've just been so over-saturated that his shtick lost any luster it had. Get Hard was hilarious.

So true. I tried watching one of his stand up performances once to see what all the fuss was about, I didn't crack a smile. He's even overbearing in most of his films.

See? I've already blocked that from my memory.

Not a big fan of Kevin Hart, although I liked his role in Jumanji. I think he's better in (pun intended?) small doses.

It is not unfortunately but Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh

I think Samberg could it by himself without Oh.

At least it isn't Tiffany Haddish.
They will bring her back when they announce the nominees and she can mess up all the names reading the teleprompter again.

Isn't this kind of late to announce the Oscars and Globes hosts in Dec with only a month away from the Globes and 2 1/2 or 3 months away from the Oscars?

I think they announced the Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy (He bailed) hosting gig a couple years in the summer.

I think it was due to their initial picks turning them down.

I don't think Samberg could do this by himself. Witness his part on the Emmy's this past year. It was embarrassing. He's an extremely limited comedienne IMO. He's best doing skits and those short videos on "SNL".

I'm pretty happy Chris Tucker is hosting the Oscars.

What? Oh, wait... :(

Chris Rock...Chris Tucker...Kevin Hart...? Put "Chris" and "Hart" together and you get:
