I know absolutely nothing about this character, and didn't even know they were making this, but now that I've seen the trailer I'm in. This looks like fun! I'm sure they'll find a way to fit this into the larger MCU, most likely via post-credit scenes hinting at future involvement with the Avengers, et al.
...and then there's that lovely art by Paul Gulacy.
The character is still around in the comics, but is pretty much relegated to the B/C-list these days. (Not unlike Guardians of the Galaxy before the movie hit.)

Shang-Chi, "The Master of Kung Fu" was a cult hit for Marvel Comics in the 1970s. It was inspired by the interest in Bruce Lee and martial arts movies from that era. Like Tomb of Dracula, Master of Kung Fu was a popular b-list title and expanded the Marvel Universe beyond just superheroes.

Shang Chi was a part of Hickman's run of Avengers a few years ago... that was probably the first time he regularly appeared in a book in a long time. And I think he got a series by Gene Luen Yang this past year or so.

I loved the original run of "Master of Kung Fu" and even bought the more recent omnibuses. There had been a lot of problems doing reprints because they'd have to pay the Sax Rohmer estate because the character was the son of "Fu Manchu". The comic began as a play off the Kung Fu craze, and their was a spin-off magazine "Deadly Hands of Kung Fu" which covered the magazines and included "Shang Chi" stories, and other characters like "Sons of the Dragon". Eventually Doug Moench and Paul Gulacy took MOKF in a different direction, and made it a pastiche of "James Bond" films.

I'm looking forward to this. I'm probably the only person in this thread who actually bought the Shang-Chi comics during its first run in the 70's, I still have these comics stashed away somewhere. There was actually a lot of humor in it along with the martial arts and being Asian it was nice to see some representation at that time even though there were a lot of stereotypes that are very dated today. I'll be happy if they are able to incorporate the spirit of those martial arts movies from that era with great action choreography and a good story, not really that concerned with how it ties into the MCU.

The action figures (including the Target exclusive) dropped out of nowhere on Sunday... I'm sure the retailers have been sitting on the stock for this wave for quite a while.

Looks more Marvel-ish than the previous trailer. That looked like abomination fighting in that arena thing. That wasn't him, was it?

I guess we'll see if there's a cameo by Danny Rand/Iron Fist or at least a mention of K'un-lun since there's a mystical element to this.

Never thought I’d see the day when a Tony Leung action figure was a thing, but there it was in Walmart. 😎
The face on the little one – as well as the smaller Simu Liu figure – are weirdly passive looking, but the “Big Tony” figure (yeah, I see what I did there 😉 ) at least has a little intent designed in the face.

I like the concept of them as sequential armbands as that would be a more practical way of using the powers rather than trying to punch someone with a set of “brass knuckles” that would undoubtedly break fingers in combat.
My 2˘.

With the origin of the Ten Rings being alien tech (prisons that hold powerful cosmic warriors), I can see them having the Tolkenesque quality of changing size depending on the wearer and their preference (like the “One Ring”).

That trailer was definitely better than the first one.
I’m curious does Tony Leung speak fluent English? The way he spoke his dialogue in that trailer looked dubbed.

I’m going to love seeing that comment about every new or different character the MCU introduces.
