This is playing at the Hollywood ArcLight, with a Q&A with cast and crew members this weekend.

There should be an international ban on zombie comedies for a while.

There’s even a Zombie High School Musical on the Disney Channel.

And STAGE FRIGHT beat them both to the punch in 2014, albeit just as unmemorably:

Saw it in NYC tonight - liked it in a Shaun of the Dead way. Will probably pick up the soundtrack as I ended up liking a few of the tunes.
It also had a post-showing Q&A, and cool to see it was with Ella Hunt. |

Saw this earlier today.
Thought it fell a bit flat, filled with one-dimensional characters and (mostly) dull humor. Ella Hunt's performance is worth noting as well as a humorous scene involving Penguin costumes. |

I watched this today, and unfortunately "flat" is accurate. You have a mashup movie of the Christmas, zombie, musical, and (somewhat) comedy genres and there is still something missing. The songs weren't bad. Ella Hunt was a great lead and I look forward to seeing more from her. But in the end it just wasn't that memorable. Not a bad movie by any means and is worth checking out. There are some pretty cool zombie kills.
There's a part of me that believes if Ryan were still alive (he passed in 2015 due to Cancer) and Directing, the film would have been quite a bit better. |

Watched it for double credit in the comedy and holiday challenges and liked it. It didn’t do anything new for the zombie genre, but Hunt was a good lead, and I liked a lot of the songs.

This was really dumb, but I enjoyed it anyway and can see myself giving it a viewing every Christmas. The songs were catchy, and they even managed to get a few in once the film became violent, which is not an easy task. Sure it's fun to have some songs before the mayhem begins ("Hollywood Ending" would work in any musical film, to have it in a horror parody is just icing on the cake), but it's kinda hard to break up a zombie fight with a musical number yet they pull it off rather well. I also got a chuckle out of the inappropriate song in the Christmas show.
Now I'm just deciding if I want the US DVD or the import Blu-Ray. |
