Excellent Adventure or Bogus Journey? [poll]
This is the question that faces all of us in modern times: Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure or Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey? Which is the definitive jaunt of these good natured metalheads-turned-saviors-of-humankind?
I'm voting for Excellent Adventure. It's the more smart, clever and wittier of the two. It also leaves me with a warm, happy feeling whenever I watch it. Bogus Journey has some fun moments (especially the nod to The Seventh Seal), but it can't touch the original.

Bogus Journey, simply there is nothing in the first movie that is even near the same league as William Sadler playing Death. One of my all time favorite comedy performances.

Excellent Adventure wins, but Bogus Journey will always get recognition from me for being such a great sequel. Think about how easy it would have been to make a lazy retread sequel to the first film. “Bill and Ted, you’re failing history AGAIN! You need to time travel, AGAIN!” They did something different! I appreciate that.

Excellent Adventure is the superior movie, but my single favorite scene is in Bogus Journey (challenge death to a game).

I loved that.
What made me laugh was that the FilmStruck channel had the obvious double feature:
The Seventh Seal
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey

One from the other film:
[completely serious tone ]"Ted, you and I have witnessed many things, but nothing as BODACIOUS as what just happened."
Goddamn, there needs to be a third film.

Went with Excellent Adventure but give them credit for making a comedy sequel that was actually good and not just a retread.

My favorite of the two is Bogus Journey because it goes in such creative, unexpected directions. However, it couldn't do that without Excellent Adventure establishing the world that's getting upended in the sequel. So I'm going with Bogus Journey with the caveat that it doesn't work at all without having a strong basis in Excellent Journey.

Bogus and it's not even close. As much for evil robot Bill and Ted and any interactions involving them as it is for Death (who is great). The characters are normally so naive and full of joy that they're perfect to twist into evil doppelgangers.

I still remember having to explain to my OLDER brother why I laughed so hard when Bill said he had a "minor Oedipal complex"

I just got Bogus Journey on Blu ray and it holds up remarkably well 27 years later. It's fun to look at and it's just plain clever. A lesson could be learned by today's movie producers. While I still prefer the first one, this is still a solid entry.
On another note: why can garbage like The Happytime Murders be given a green light, but not Bill & Ted 3? I mean it's an established property *and* it would have an a-list star in it. It doesn't make an ounce of sense.

Also, anytime we have to use one clock as the reference, I call it "the clock in San Dimas"

Being in Southern California, when I see San Dimas I also think "San Dimas high school football rules!"
