I saw this the other day. It was pretty slow, but not bad. Weird to have Dafoe playing like 30 years younger than his age.

I thought this was an absolutely wonderful film. It'll definitely make my Top 10. Top 3 maybe. Dafoe gives the performance of his career. If he doesn't win the Golden Globe and Oscar there truly is no justice in this world. It just feels like its his year.

There is no justice. Malik is good but Dafoe deserved it more.
Nobody except Dafoe could have played this role. Van Gogh was ahead of his time and maybe people who thought he was crazy will be more sympathetic to him if they see this movie. The scene with Dafoe and Madds Mikkelsen is cinema at its finest. |

I tried to watch this last night.
A piss-poor, ego-driven film by Schnabel. Van Gogh is my favorite painter. I have read much about his life over the years. His biography alone, is fascinating as hell. Unfortunately, Schnabel makes this movie all about himself. :mad: Dafoe is superb...THE right guy for the part. |
