I really thought this was a Clue remake when I saw the trailer in the theater today.

A must-see for me. <n>Brothers Bloom was the only Johnson movie that wasn't great, so I'm in for whatever projects he does.

I'm sort of shocked this is getting great reviews, unless that trailer decided to put all the worst material in it. It's happened with trailers before, but it's pretty rare to have an awful trailer to a great movie. The last movie I can think of where this happened was Tom Cruise's American Made - not a good trailer, but a really good movie.

It looks like it could be charming. But man that trailer is a dog.

I guess it could also have some amazing ending, in the vain of a Coen Brothers movie. Or some mind blowing twist. It made reviews glow somehow. I just don’t feel it in that trailer.

Possibly. Sometimes a movie will have such a strong third act, one forgets the first two acts were awful. If it continues to get strong reviews, I'll probably check it out in theaters - but I'm still on the fence about waiting for home video.

They review I read indicated that the film had twist after twist after twist, so the trailer might've been hamstrung by what it could show without spoiling anything.

I think this trailer works a lot better, because it leans into the mystery/thriller aspects.

Does it matter that Adam Sandler got his version of the movie out first?

I agree. That looks interesting and fun. More Hercule Poirot, less Murder By Death.

The second trailer is interesting, since there's barely indication in it that this is a comedy (or, at the very least, a spoof of classic mystery films). I'm guessing someone at the studio realized that the first trailer didn't get the buzz they were hoping for. Agree this trailer is much better - too bad it doesn't wipe that first trailer from my mind.

I don't think it's meant to be a spoof in any way, just a modern take on a whodunnit. Murder mysteries can be comedic without being a spoof.

Well, it's hardly the "official" line, but Wikipedia describes it as a "ensemble black comedy mystery."

I also see M. Emmet Walsh is in this thing. Isn't he like 100?

I just remember the old Roger Ebert credo: "No movie with M. Emmet Walsh can be all that bad."

He was probably able to buy alcohol without an ID when he was in middle school.

He's always looked sort of old.

Here's his high school yearbook picture:

LOL. The town only had 3500 people back then, so everyone already knew where everyone else already lived.
