Ah, right. They did that because of Max, though, and Peacemaker Season 2, right? Apologies for the confusion. I remember buying it then them dropping the price like a week later.

It might be for the best, for now. (Even though included Angie in Gunn's Superman.)

I think The Authority works best as a standalone piece and not as a part of a larger superhero universe. They're basically an iconoclastic Justice League. Once DC bought Wildstorm and integrated them into the DC Universe, they never really found their place. The team only ever really worked during Ellis' run (Stormwatch v1 #37-50, Stormwatch v2 #1-11, Authority #1-12) and about half of Millar's run (Authority #13-16, parts of the rest).

Superman made $616M worldwide and that was pretty successful. Especially considering it got knee capped and sent to PVODF after 45 days.

I don't know how much Suoergirl cost to make, but James Gunn seems to be a financially responsible executive and filmmaker. And he must trust Gillespie with this IP otherwise he would not have hired him. I would say if this gets even 70-75% of that, then that's a huge win for DC. But, it's going to heavily depend on marketing. Since no one fucking watches linear TV anymore, especially kids. They will have to really market this on social media and YouTube. And good early WOM will be key.

Doubt it hits 75% of Superman's box office. The competition on the 2026 theatrical schedule is absolutely loaded and Supergirl is going to get squeezed. Warner will likely consider $300 million a win for Supergirl.

The trailer left me rather indifferent. If you remove the newspaper headline or the suit towards the end, I'd swear this was another Marvel movie. I'll watch it eventually, if I remember it even exists. But this won't be something that gets me to go to the theater.

Yeah I don't think it's very general audiences friendly, even withholding the title which not everyone is likely to know.

“He [Superman] sees the good in everybody. I see the truth.”

Is a pretty good line, though!

1) This looks like Supergirl in a GotG movie

That was my takeaway, wondering if Gunn ghost directed this.

First full look of Momoa as Lobo

What happens when they need Aquaman to cameo in... oh wait a second... Aquaman is never needed.

You know there will be some joke written should Chris Evans as Cap have a scene with whoever is playing The Human Torch at that moment.

Yeah, Krypto is adorable but I am gonna wait for streaming. Superman was entertaining but nothing I regret having seen at home. I sense the DCU movies will simply be MCU Phase 4+ levels of diminishing returns.

I'm in, because it's Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 4.

A lot rides on this movie for Gunn and his DC universe.

I'll see it but I don't quite understand with the obsession with Krypto in both of these movies. But I'm beating that dead horse, so I'll just check it out when it arrives.

What's not to get? It's a cute animal. Guardians had Rocket, Groot, Cosmo,& Lyla, (and to a lesser extent Teef and Floor).

The Suicide Squad: rats

Peacemaker: Eagly

There are people here who hate animals and child actors in movies and TV.

I don’t hate animals or children - I’m a parent with three dogs.

I just don’t give a shit about Superman/girls CGI deus ex machina dog. And now we’ve got two movies where he is a major part of the story. Just a head-scratcher to me.

That's a big reason I don't really want to see this. I only liked GotG2 (and Kurt Russell was the reason why).

I mean I'm not sure Krypto is a MAJOR part of the story, but we'll see. At least we see his origin.

TomOpus 02-10-26 07:58 AM

Re: Supergirl (2026, D: Gillespie)

I wouldn't be opposed if his origin is a large part of the first act. I love dogs...and cool soundtracks.

My main problem with the dog is that it's not a dog. It's a cgi creature, that kind of looks like a dog, but doesn't look real.

How are space alien dogs supposed to look? Your only references are Earth dogs.

Uh, they are obviously supposed to look like CG Earth dogs. Duh.
