RoboCop Returns (D: Abe Forsythe)

Robocop In an interview with Zeitgeist Entertainment Magazine, original Robocop screenwriter Ed Neumeier revealed he’s working on a sequel to the 1987 film that will ignore the events of Robocop 2, Robocop 3 and the 2014 remake. There’s been a bunch of other RoboCop movies and there was recently a remake and I would say this would be kind of going back to the old RoboCop we all love and starting there and going forward. So it’s a continuation really of the first movie. In my mind. So it’s a little bit more of the old school thing. |

That would be an acceptable use of my Movie Pass!

Personally, I really liked the 2014 movie. I'd love to see a sequel to that one.

Will Weller be in it? Then it's not really a sequel to the original. Remake was bland. Do it right or stop making them.

... almost there...

Re: Robocop 2 re-do reportedly in development (sequel to 1987 movie)
I’d buy that for a dollar!!! ;)

The original is a classic sci-fi movie.
R2 was OK. The remake was nothing special. |
Re: Robocop 2 re-do reportedly in development (sequel to 1987 movie)
There really is no story I can think of that would require making another Robocop 2. The third one, yea. As a matter of fact, they should just remake Robocop 3. this time they'll have a real budget instead of sinking ship from a studio going under.
Also, they failed at the PG remake. That doesn't give me much hope. Won't most people think Robocop 2 is a sequel to that one at this point???? http://s2.quickmeme.com/img/6e/6ef95...c29548f6a6.jpg |
Re: Robocop 2 re-do reportedly in development (sequel to 1987 movie)
I really have a soft spot for Robocop 2. Kid gangster with a lunchbox machine gun, psychotic drug addicted robot monster and everyone in town has somehow gotten even shittier. Good stuff
I'd also like a sequel to the reboot. I thought it was pretty good, all things considered. |
Re: Robocop 2 re-do reportedly in development (sequel to 1987 movie)
So, the new Halloween is going to ignore all the sequels and now Robocop?
This the new trend? |

Terminator 3 perhaps?
I'm down for that. I kind of have mixed feelings on these sequels that ignore other sequels. In this case neither the second or third film are as good as the first but like others I like Robocop 2 for a guilty pleasure movie. I also surprisingly liked the reboot quite a bit. I don’t think it got a fair shot by most as everyone was too quick to judge it against the original and not take it on its own merits. It’s really not a bad film and I wouldn’t have minded a sequel. |

Robocop 2 doesn't need a re-do. Move along Neumeier...

Re: Robocop 2 re-do reportedly in development (sequel to 1987 movie)
I think the Lewis thing is a big thing but also how OCP changed.
I too loved 2 though my only complaint is they made the old man the villain as opposed to the first one where he had some scruples. |
Re: Robocop 2 re-do reportedly in development (sequel to 1987 movie)
Hmm, what other franchise could possibly redo a sequel. We've got Halloween 2 and Terminator 3 coming. Possibly Robocop. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series has already done it God knows how many times. The Return of the Living Dead is technically a sequel to Night.
If Anthony Perkins was alive you could bet they'd do a sequel to Psycho ignoring 2,3,4. What about a new Exorcist 2 with Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn and Friedkin coming back. Or how about a new Prequel trilogy with only 4,5,6 being canon. I have a feeling this IS going to be a new trend. |

I still have yet to see 2 and 3. I made the mistake of doing that with the Beverly Hills Cop sequels.

Hell, they could re-do X-Men 3 and treat the existing X3 as if it was all a bad dream.
