I read the teaser is playing in theaters. Sounds like its about a minute and about half is what was already posted followed by some shots from the film.

Jesus, how old is that kid?!

In this day and age, I don’t think a kid that age would play with a toy doll. Even if it does have wi-fi.

Showed more than I expected based off the reaction I read last night. I don’t know this doesn’t look awful to me, but I’m not thrilled about it either. Looks similar-ish to the original but with modern updates. The kid playing Andy does look a bit too old I agree.

I really like the original film and the Chucky character/franchise in general so I hope it’s decent. It’ll be weird hearing someone other than Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky.

Same thing I was thinking but... did I see some kind of hearing aid in his ear? I wonder if the film is going the route of "everyone bullies me, I have no friends" so mom buys him the doll? Still stupid.

You know, they could've just made this another killer doll movie without the branding. I mean, it barely resembles "Child's Play" anyway.

That's the first thing that ran through my brain...this is a much older kid..wtf he doing playing with dolls?

About the only thing I could say is the movie looks colorful.

The best route they could go is have the mom having bought the doll for an upcoming birthday for a younger nephew. Chucky decides to do what he does before that happens. Having the kid we see in the trailer be the owner of the doll is dumb. Maybe the mom works for the company that created the doll.

Maybe it’ll be something like the mom is clueless about what her kid wants and gets him the Buddi (ugh) doll and he doesn’t really want it. I don’t know I’m more open to this film the more I watch the teaser. It doesn’t look horrible and it feels like it’s got similar beats to the original, but is also adding some new elements. I’m kind of excited to see it. The biggest question mark is how Chucky will sound.

I think the original holds up decently. It isn’t ultra scary or anything, but there is a certain creepiness about a little kid being hunted down by his doll. It’s simple but effective if you ask me. Also I didn’t exactly grow up on the original or anything. I had seen bits and pieces of it, but probably didn’t watch it until my early twenties sometime.

That said though I’m open minded about this remake. The trailer looked decent enough to me and it has a good cast including Mark Hamill who should be great as the voice of Chucky. I feel like he’ll bring something distinct to the voice that it won’t be compared to Brad Dourif.

I will say the Chucky doll is pretty eh looking as far as his face. Maybe it’ll get screwed up at some point and look cooler or something.

I'll see it mostly for Aubrey Plaza and because AMC moviecard. I've seen all of them and the first three multiple times. The only one I go back to now is part 2 which is cheesy fun with a few great set pieces.

It looks good to me and actually kind of creepy. I’m surprisingly excited for this. It seems like it’s doing enough to differentiate itself from the original where it’s not just copying it, but yet still has some of the feel of the original film.
