I liked enough of the movie to tentatively recommend it to people. It felt overly long, though, especially the first half.

Wow. Just watched this on Shudder last night. Again: wow.
Went in expecting a "standard" vengeance flick and some over-the-top histrionics from Mr. Cage. What I got was something unlike I have ever seen.
Just an absolute acid-trip thrill ride, with its own special pacing. I almost want to call this genius stuff, if for no other reason than it completely flipped my preconceptions.
And Nic Cage: well done, sir.
The score. The visuals. The whole thing. And that Bill Duke monologue was just wonderful.
Now...on to Beyond The Black Rainbow for me.
