I’m not a huge Ninja Turtle fan, but I did reserve a ticket. I liked the trailer that was making fun of Barbie.

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies are developing a sequel to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” and planning a two-season series that will serve as a “bridge” between the films. The spinoff series, titled “Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” will appear on Paramount+.
It’s a sign of how bullish the studio is feeling about “Mutant Mayhem,” an animated adventure that opens theatrically on August 2. Paramount and Nickelodeon chief Brian Robbins has made rebooting the Turtles a top priority after the live-action film franchise ran out of steam with 2016’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.”
The sequel will be produced by Point Grey Pictures and directed by Jeff Rowe, who is also the director and co-writer of “Mutant Mayhem.” Point Grey Pictures is also producing the Paramount+ series. Chris Yost (“Secret Headquarters,” “The Mandalorian,” “Thor: Ragnorok”) and Alan Wan (“Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” [2012 Series]) will be serving as executive producers and showrunners. Lukas Williams will be overseeing both the series and sequel for Point Grey.
“In the nearly 40 years since ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ launched into the zeitgeist, it has entertained generations of fans and only continues to grow,” said Robbins. “We are excited to grow TMNT’s legacy in partnership with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg at Point Grey, and Jeff Rowe, who are innovating the franchise with their singular brand of humor and elevated storytelling for audiences everywhere, across virtually every platform.”
Said Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation & Nickelodeon Animation, “Reinvigorating this franchise has been years in the making, and we are thrilled to continue expanding the beloved ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ universe and bringing new adventures to families and fans.”
The upcoming Paramount+ series from Nickelodeon Animation and Point Grey Pictures, “Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” will be a 2D animated series with two seasons currently in the works, taking place between the events of the feature film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” and the forthcoming sequel. Reprising their roles from the film for the series are Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu and Brady Noon as the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
According to the official description, the Turtles will be challenged like never before as Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey each go it alone for the first time. Faced with new threats and teaming up with old allies, the Turtles will discover who they really are when they don’t have their brothers at their sides.
In the upcoming “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” the Turtle brothers have grown tired of being isolated from humanity, so they set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and to be accepted as normal teens by performing heroic deeds.

Early Access screening tonight. Got this free limited edition poster and comic.

And the movie was quite enjoyable. Never been a big TMNT fan, but i had a good time. I liked the animation as well. The vast majority of my audience was adults.

Dug the animation. The score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross is awesome as is all the needle drops. Decent start to rebooting the franchise. I'd check out the series and sequel.

Guess I will be the lone voice of dissent here but this was a big disappointment for me. Safe is the one word that would best describe every single aspect of this movie imo, from the story to the jokes to the music to the copyrighted songs, etc. Comparisons to the Spider-Verse films as far as its animation don’t do it any favors. Those two films look gorgeous, both having numerous images and shots that I would gladly hang up on my wall. Mutant Mayhem is ugly-looking throughout with some oddly grotesque character designs (particularly most of the humans). The whole movie looks as if the film reels were soaked overnight in mud or shit-colored water. I hated the changes to the lore. No mention of Hamato Yoshi. The turtles now learn ninjitsu from YouTube and TikTok videos. Their once distinct personalities have been diluted, they’re now pretty much all interchangeable. TMNT has a plethora of mutants from the comics and cartoon shows over the years that they could’ve used here yet for some reason a half-dozen new ones were created, none of whom are particularly memorable save for…maybe.. Paul Rudd’s lizard character whose name escapes me atm (all of these mutants are forgettable in fact). Having a stacked cast of big-name actors to do the voices like Rose Byrne and Giancarlo Esposito amounts to nothing. For a movie so packed with comedic moments and jokes my nearly sold-out show was surprisingly chilly and unresponsive throughout. The only time you’d hear a tiny chuckle here and there was whenever they’d throw out some random pop culture mention or reference at you (Attack on Titan, The Avengers, etc.).
I don’t get the critics fawning over this. They lambasted The Super Mario Bros. Movie for being a soulless, 1 1/2 hour toy commercial, and truth be told it pretty much was. But I still enjoyed it more than this. Both movies are pretty much vying for the same audience, mostly very young children and nostalgic long-time fans. I guess as a concept and overall ip I see TMNT as having much more potential and therefore expected much more of Mutant Mayhem.

My son and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I am a TMNT fan from the comic days and have never really liked the "kiddie" versions. The original TMNT movie is dark enough for me but they go south after that. I need to see it at home because there were too many kids at the Alamo today - I expect some noise but parents were doing nothing to keep their little shits quiet. If they don't want to watch the movie - why spend money to take them? I'll never understand that. Loved the animation style too - very distinctive but dynamic in the action scenes. 4 out of 5 for me.
One fun fact - my daughter told us at dinner last night that she heard the four kids who played the turtles (who were actually teens, which is a nice touch) recorded in the same room together. You can really hear their banter throughout and it's fun visualizing the way they did it.
This is just wrong. Almost all of them are in the cartoons, toys, etc. I recognized them all immediately.

I thought it was pretty good. I liked the art style. The story was simple enough and had enough heart to make you care about the characters. I felt like they did a decent job of giving each of the characters a distinct personality. it was interesting the way they changed the origin of the turtles specifically with Splinter. Making him more of a dad first then a ninja probably made him a bit more endearing. But I guess he won't have the rivalry with Shredder like he did in the cartoon. It did devolve in the end to something quite juvenile, but it fit with the tone of the rest of the film. And it is an unabashedly kids movie, especially more specifically geared towards boys. But it's more of a genuine kids movie. What I mean by that is the banter and interactions were very genuine. They're distinctly teenagers and behaved as such. But there was no artificial drama added in like a fight with Splinter or constant fart jokes. They were written as teenagers, not like what adults think that teenagers behave like. It's perfectly normal for them to want to expand their freedoms while also loving their dad. The run time was perfect, not overly bloated. Overall a 7/10. It it a Spiderverse movie either in terms of what it's trying to say or it's visual style? No, not even close. But it's a fun lighthearted kids movie that doesn't overstay it's welcome and doesn't talk down to it's audience.

This was a fun installment in the TMNT franchise. I really liked that they explored how isolated the turtle felt living in the sewers, but hated the new characterization of April O'Neil. Still, the movie had a lot of heart and I enjoyed it immensely.

Enjoyed this a lot. Great animation and killer soundtrack. The mutants partying to Wu Tang I like it raw was great.

Saw this in 3D today… only because I wanted to see two matinees and this time worked better (I also saw The Meg 2).
The 3D was kind of a distraction, but I enjoyed the movie, the characters, and the art style.
This was definitely geared towards kids and the announcement of a TV series between this and the sequel solidifies that resolve.
I was a little weirded out by Splinter and the Roach (Scumbug?!) making out, but hey, it got the reaction it wanted.

Loved the animation and soundtrack. Reminded me of a scuzzy comic from a local artist in the 90s. The 6 leads felt very real. Also definitely loved Mondo Gecko, who I thought was Andy Samberg for the entire movie, only to find out it's Paul Rudd.
I'll note I've seen the 1990 film, the Bay-produced ones, and a smattering of comics and cartoons. The Ninja Turtles have mostly felt like a cool idea that I just havn't clicked with.

Appreciated the visual depth of the 3-D conversion but I wouldn't say its absolutely necessary for this film.
I enjoyed this film quite a bit but didn't love it in the way that many critics have been.
On the positives, the art style is a welcome direction as are the soundtrack choices & cues (especially Ol' Dirty Bastard & Blackstreet) and appearances from characters I only remembering having as action figures (Leatherhead, Mondo Gecko, etc.)
I also very much appreciated the film's willingness (early) to speak on the loneliness the Turtles felt, even being so young, a theme I wished stayed as potent throughout.
Though I understand the script has a target audience, the moments listed above are often abandoned for jokes about milking or moments like the Splinter/Scumbag scenes.
Therein lies the hurdle that stopped me from really loving the film, its inconsistency throughout. When the film is fun, its a blast but when its dull, is absolutely dull.

Inconsistency is a good word for it. It actually does have a good bit of heart and somewhat mature themes in exploring feelings of loneliness and the relationship between a father and teenage boys and then it devolves (pun intended) to a weird kaiju mutant animal mashup final battle. I mean it fits for the ninja turtles and I liked it but I can see how they didn't fully commit to telling a compelling story throughout or being purely just for kids. Either way I think most people could agree that it could have been much much worse.

Saw it tonight. Absolutely loved it. I was surprised but I found it a ton of fun. It had heart, good comedy, fun characters, great soundtrack and the animation was an interesting choice. The movie really worked for me.
I liked the other Mutants beyond the Turtles as well as the versions of Splinter and April. Only thing I may have changed is the villain being Superfly instead of just Baxter Stockman transformed. Still though even that I didn’t mind.
I’m definitely going to pre-order this one.

Saw it tonight. Solid voice acting, wonderful animation. Everything else was dogshit. Tired, lame allegory; classic low common denominator pandering with the humor and total disregard for the source material beyond ooze+animals=mutants.
I really wish Seth Rogen would stay in his lane of stoner humor when writing. This, Preacher and Green Hornet really tells me he has no reverence for existing material he finds beloved.

The crowd at my theater laughed and cheered at the lame grandma with a gun gag in the Blue Beetle trailer. They ate up the stupid milking jokes like they were Max Cady in Cape Fear.

It's not my favorite iteration of the property, but I loved this. One of my favorite movies of the year. Can't wait to do a double feature with this and Past Lives.
Count me among the plebians who laughed at every single one of the milking jokes. I even laughed in anticipation when I could see another one coming down the pike.
And as for the deviations from the source material, who cares? There's like eleventy billion versions of this story told eleventy billion different ways. Why not give it its own spin?
