I anticipate the nerf to the service coming any month now.
It's gotten to the point where I get annoyed when someone sets up a group thing with the kids and wants to go to a different theater. They have me good.

Re: AMC Stubs A-List -- movie theatre subscription
A year ago today, AMC Theatres launched its AMC Stubs A-List program where for $19.95 a month in 34 states, moviegoers can get three movie tickets a week, plus other benefits. Also, close to a year ago today, MoviePass largely imploded after the opening of Paramount’s Mission: Impossible-Fallout, curbing back on a majority of its benefits under its $9.95/unlimited movies a month plan.
Unlike MoviePass which mushroomed to 3 million subscribers in less than a year’s time, thus burning down the house to keep warm, AMC has been careful to grow their monthly ticket subs gradually to 860,129 members in North America. Part of that has to do with the differentiating monthly price in certain states, i.e. in Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington state and The District of Columbia, A-List is $21.95 per month, plus tax whereas in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, A-List is $23.95 per month, plus tax. Members also enjoy a number of benefits, i.e. free premium upgrades (i.e. Imax, Premium Large Format tickets, 3D), RSVPing tickets ahead with no ticket fees, concession upgrades and refills.
Said Adam Aron, CEO and President of AMC Theatres: “This one-year anniversary gives us an opportunity to reflect on the enormous success of the AMC Stubs A-List program. Prior to launching A-List last summer, we set an initial goal of 500,000 members after one year and a second goal of 1 million by June 26, 2020. Based on our research and best estimations at the time, those goals seemed aggressive but attainable heading into the launch of the program. Given the overwhelmingly positive moviegoer reception we received the moment A-List was announced, it quickly became clear the program would exceed those expectations. Indeed, we crossed 500,000 members within four-and-a-half months, and now sit at more than 860,000 members today.”
Aron added, “Equally exciting, A-List has increased moviegoing. Our A-List members have visited our AMC theatres more than 20 million times in the program’s first year to watch movies as they are meant to be seen, in theatres on the big screen.”

860K is a huge accomplishment.
It's very possible it can grow to 1M before the end of 2019.
But yeah the rumored Regal competition might slow more potential growth, but competition is always good.

This is what moviepass should have been. As much as I have been enjoying A-list there was nothing like the flexibility of moviepass at virtually all theaters no matter where you are. Instead that company was run by a bunch of asshats.

WOw, so looks like Midsommar IS opening at my local AMC. I see that it's been branded as "AMC Artisan," so I figure those are the indie films that will make their way into AMC cinemas. I read something recently about AMC going after indie films, so I figure that' why Midsommar is in there. Seeing it tomorrow.

My issue has been that nothing is staying in the damned theater very long this summer. I’ve been busy and was looking forward to caching up with a few “double feature days”, but I’ve missed a few films completely because the big blockbusters are shoving smaller films out the door within two weeks.

I only noticed today that the "week" is considered to be Friday through Thursday. I don't think that's a big deal but this was going to he one of those weeks where I would've gone out at least once more but would've ended up with four so I didn't go. Turns out, it would've been three, then the new week. Oh, well, another time.

The AMC app has been practically unusable for Android in the last week or so.
It's sluggish and crashes all the time. I can't even access my ticket without the app crashing and re-starting.
I've been ordering my tickets through Fandango, so thank goodness that app works and I can access it.
Anyone having issues with the AMC app? Even the app for iOS on my iPad is having issues.

Here's a new one. I went to the 9:50pm show of Good Boys a few nights ago, using my A-List for the advanced ticket purchase, and ended up arriving at 9:59pm. I tend to do this because I don't need to sit through 15-20 minutes of trailers. Turns out, that was the last show of the night and the box office was closed. Front door was closed. Mall gate was pulled shut. I had to yell to the concessions workers until a manager came and let me in. I explained the situation and she let me right through. Showed her the app and she glance at it with a look that said, "Oh, yeah, I should probably make sure that this guy actually is telling the truth." Concessions were already closed down and there weren't many vehicles in the lot, so must've not been a lot of people. My showing had 5 people total and I noticed at least 2 seats pre-sold had no shows.
Never locked out of the movies before. Since I usually catch a mid-evening or late show, I'll have to pay better attention to whether the show I'm going to is the last show of the night from now on!

I got A-List a couple months ago and, for the most part, I love it. My biggest issue though is I can't book more than a day in advance - not because the app won't let me, but rather because my local AMC changes movie times for the weekend at the last minute possible. So, instead of updating my reservation to the new time, the app instead cancels my reservation to the movie. Fortunately, few films in my area sell out (at least short of an Marvel or Star Wars film), so this has just been a minor annoyance.

The lastest app update introduces A-List Entourage. "Now A-List members can reseve tickets together. Invite your crew to join your A-List Entourage and make FREE online movie reservations together. Get started in the A-List tav within My AMC."
Here's an article from last month about it: https://www.rereleasenews.com/2019/0...-reservations/

Shannon, I’ll be your friend and not go to movies with you.
I prefer to go alone.
Had an app issue yesterday, but they looked my info up at the theater and took care of me no problem.

Still no family plan = me still not joining. I'm not paying for two or more memberships so that I can take my kids.

Anyone notice some bugs with the advance listings?
I tried getting a ticket for Midway on Friday the 8th at my closest and it's all listed as sold out. But, the Thursday listings are available.
It affects the AMC app and Fandango.
This happened last week with Black and Blue. The Thursday listings were good, but the initial Friday listings were sold out.
also it's happening with Doctor Sleep.
