I dunno. That looks so dark. But, I’ll give it a shot. Still have to see Golden Circle...

I hope the 3rd film gets back to the fun of the 1st.
Second film was a letdown for me... |

I like it! I missed that first trailer and this one looks almost the same, but looks entertaining nonetheless.

I’ll see this for sure.
I don’t know why they are sticking with the Christmas release date. Seems odd. |

This is a very strange movie; one that want's to be Kingsmen prequel but at this same time wants to be taken seriously. It just doesn't mesh. The fun is never really nearly as fun as the first movie, and all the serious moments play out like the movie was being made by two different people.

I have not seen this yet but I'll assume it's due to writer Jane Goldman no longer writing with Matthew Vaughn. She co-produced and co-wrote the first two films. |
re: The King's Man (2021, D: Vaughn) -- Kingsman prequel
Just got back from seeing this. Full disclosure. I have not seen the 1st two movies. It's just one of those movies that keeps getting thrown to the back burner.
Anyways, I had so much fun watching it. Ralph Fiennes was awesome. For a guy who's pushing 60, he was great in the action and fight sequences. Aterton and Hounsou were also awesome as his colleagues. The big war sequence between the British and Germans was pretty badass, especially the hand to hand fight sequences. That was pretty dark and gruesome stuff. I was shocked that they killed off: Spoiler:
That sequence with the Germans reminded me of the No Man's Land sequence from Wonder Woman. and they did a good job with the light humor and making it a fun spy action movie. I really liked it. Now I need to watch the first two movies. A solid B+ from me. One thing I could have done without was Rhys Ifans licking Fiennes leg to "heal it" That was just gross and then he eats that cake and throws up afterwards. But, the fight choreography in that scene was pretty cool. |

Spoiler:
Saw this earlier today with a friend of mine. Not nearly as fun as the previous films but it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen either. I really enjoyed the final act as well as the performances from Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans & Djimon Hounsou, which I felt help give stability to such a tonal mess. Spoiler:

re: The King's Man (2021, D: Vaughn) -- Kingsman prequel
Saw this today with my son and we both found it enjoyable. It is a little inferior to the first two movies but still has some good action sequences and occasional bizarre choices in dialogue and/or actions from various characters (which is a trademark for this series).
The spoiler mentioned above also surprised us both and the Spoiler:
It was also interesting to watch Ralph Fiennes in the recent James Bond movie as a slow, paunchy, old-ass crotchety M and then to see him looking 15 years younger a month later kicking serious ass and making it believable. I did think it took a little too long to get going and they should have chopped about 15 to 20 minutes off the whole thing. The history weaving into fiction was fun and well done. The Russian dance knife fight choreography was awesome. The reveal of the Big Bad was very underwhelming and anticlimactic. Is it wrong that I was hoping for a skinny Mike Myers to be revealed in the Big Baddy role? It would have been ridiculous but great at the same time. I truly hope they get to make a 4th one since the mid-credits stinger looked interesting. This movie got delayed half a dozen times and with the lack of response from what I have seen, it may be floundering. My rating: *** out of ***** |
re: The King's Man (2021, D: Vaughn) -- Kingsman prequel
I'm one of the few people in the world that saw this in theaters. Enjoyable movie but it feels like it was originally a regular WW1 story with the Kingsman angle added later.
It doesn't deserve to be bombing this badly, it probably would've done better in September when nothing was out except Shang-Chi. |

The King's Man hits Hulu on February 18th.

re: The King's Man (2021, D: Vaughn) -- Kingsman prequel
Indeed! With this and Nightmare Alley premiering on HULU, I'm saving money left and right!
