Memorable/notable improvs
What are some of the improv moments that were left in movies that you like? This is something of an interest of mine, I love good improvs. We all know the famous ones, like "You talkin to me?" and "You're going to need a bigger boat." What are some of the less known ones? Off the top of my head:
"Winter's Bone," the scene with the Army recruiter. They hired a real life Army recruiter and gave him no lines. He was told to just talk to Jennifer like he would any kid who sat down in front of him. "Cape Fear" remake. The auditorium scene. I've read the whole sequence with DeNiro and Juliette Lewis was totally ad libbed and done in one take. "A Few Good Men." Tom Cruise's little Jack impersonation, "He eats breakfast three hundred yards from people trained to kill him." Tom wasn't supposed to say that line with a Jack-ism. "Se7en," Lee Ermey, answering a ringing phone. "This isn't even my desk." Slam Others? |

Re: Memorable/notable improvs
OMG can you people read? I said lesser known ones. Everyone knows about Strangelove and "I know."

Re: Memorable/notable improvs
The cape fear one is not true. It very obviously was not done in one take. The actors may have worked it out without a script by workshoping it together, but you can't improvise a whole scene like that on the spot.

Re: Memorable/notable improvs
Also, not everyone has seen every movie being discussed, popular or otherwise.

with your second question being: sooo yeah, clearly people can read you just have to make sure you remember what you wrote |

I love that scene. I know Tom Hanks has a reputation for being vanilla (which I do t necessarily agree with) but that’s scene in particular is one of the most well acted scenes I’ve ever watched!

I love when OPs go apeshit in their own threads :)
