No idea who Grace Randolph is, but coming from people who sometimes recommend Stuckmann's videos...

90% of Youtube reviewers are shit. Just someone saying cool or not cool. Absolutely no insight into what makes something good film making

I like Stuckmann at times, but he’s not my favorite either. I think he takes himself a bit too seriously. He’s a lot more intelligently spoken than Randolph is though. She pretty much is a reaction video YouTuber. She basically reacts to trailers and film news, and it’s not done in a way that’s really insightful or anything. I prefer more edited style videos. Red Letter Media and Screen Junkies I like a lot.

I thought the trailer sucked. I think this is going to bomb.

It looks like a really bad Saturday morning series. Maybe this would have been more interesting if it was done in 1998 when Sonic the Hedgehog was actually relevant.

I mean Sonic is still fairly popular despite the fact that most of the new games aren’t very good. Agreed that this feels way late. This should have been done late 90s or early 2000s. The trailer reflects that too as it feels like a bad movie from that period, right down to starring Jim Carrey (who I like but still).

I didn't say you were, but I can see how my phrasing would be interpreted that way. I'll leave it at that, but we're cool mate.

And this right here is why, as much as I want a Legend of Zelda movie, I also dread the day a LoZ movie is announced.

edit: to be clear, it's not going to look amazing or anything of the sort... passable, I'm sure... but it would be silly not to expect any improvement in the CG in the next 7 months.
For sure, and maybe the Detective Pikachu initial trailer didn't look that great either and my memory is not up to snuff, or they showed it when they were further along. They have time, so maybe they'll pull this together. I'm not holding my breath, but we'll see.

And by we, I mean people who are going to see this movie because there is no way that will be me. I'm down for some family fair, but this looks really generic. Carrey looks like he's having fun tho.

Sonic, for some reason, has a very vocal and dedicated fanbase. And I can only imagine that Sonic sub-reddits and forums are burning to the ground right now.

Oh, yay. Jim Carey as ... Jim Carey.

I’m out. Although I have to admit the joke about the child and the duffle bag had me in stitches.

Wow. It’s like they took a half a dozen shitty movies, took the shittiest parts out of them, and made them into Sonic the Hedgehog.

So, he’s basically a superhero now? Rocket Raccoon + The Quicksilver = this pile of shit.

re: Sonic The Hedgehog (2020, D: Fowler) S: Carrey, Marsden, Schwartz

I agree that it looks like Jim Carrey doing his classic stuff, which is a good thing. Sonic doesn't look as bad as I thought.

But this whole thing feels like some cheesy late 90s/early 2000s movie.
I thought that if Sonic ever did get a movie, it would be something more along the lines of Zootopia. Totally CGI, with a planet full of talking animals.
Detective Pikachu looks great while this one looks average at best.

If the rumors are true, his performance isn't the only thing that's infectious.

Considering the reports from Coachella, I'm guessing that's pretty common place throughout So. Cal

Sonic looks pretty awful. Shame on the folks who gave that a green light.

Other artists have done their versions of Sonic by painting over and manipulating the Trailer footage. The designs have been light years ahead of this.

Spoiler:

You don’t want a dark and gritty Sonic based in reality?

Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Design To Be Changed Following Criticism

The internet, you might have heard, did not love Sonic’s recently revealed design for the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie. Now, thank the furry, blue heavens, it’s going to change.

Today, director Jeff Fowler responded to all the criticism on Twitter.

“The message is loud and clear,” he said. “You aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be.”

As for what that’ll entail, it’s impossible to say. Fans have come up with their own redesigns. Perhaps those will be used as inspiration. Or maybe the filmmakers will just rocket off in their own direction again. All I can offer is the following piece of advice: less human mouths, not more. Please, for the love of god, not more.

Wow, pretty cool they’re actually listening to what fans want instead of just ignoring them. Curious what the redesign will look like.
