I know.

And, yeah, Usual Suspects is perfect. That scene (obviously) makes the whole movie.

Another personal favourite of mine is the end of Flirting with Danny Embling reading the letter from Thandiwe.
Off topic but I really really hope they do another one in 4 years.

Always liked the very end of Excalibur as it matched so well with the music.

Never say never... http://www.indiewire.com/2017/08/eth...py-1201863636/

I certainly would love to see it, but at least we got a trilogy with this one. Flirting was part 2 of a trilogy (following The Year My Voice Broke), and the third was never made, and likely never will (much to my disappointment).

Another ending I'd add is The Truman Show.

The Haunting Of Julia (aka Full Circle)

This horror movie got an incredible unexpected ending. Nuff said. I wish it was on blu-ray.

TRVTH.

I can't think of, off-hand, any other sequel that completely destroyed an ending the way TLJ did. Alien3, maybe.

The Deer Hunter. The beautiful quietude of the gathering, and then Stanley Myers's deeply moving score over the credits.

For me, Lost in Translation. Love that movie and its bittersweet ending.

I remember walking out of TFA and listening to all the excited movie goers exiting the theater, talking about how awesome it was to have Luke and Rey stare awkwardly at each other for what seemed like an eternity while Rey held Luke’s lightsaber out for him to grab from 30 feet away!

And Luke’s facial movements! Was he going to speak?! Was he taking a shit in his tattered robes?! They couldn’t believe they had to wait until Episode VIII to find out!

Re: Favorite movie endings?

As a sucker for a great sappy romantic ending, I have to add Random Harvest as one of my favorites.

I would have preferred the last two minutes or so of The Truman Show to be slightly re-edited to where Truman walking through the door was the final shot of the film.

I also would have eliminated that dopey “what else is on?” line (or at the very least would have made that a post-credits scene).

Yeah, that's a good one. Although I do wish I knew what he whispered to her.

I would agree.

In fact, when I first saw it I wholly thought Truman walking through the door was going to be the ending, and was thinking of that when I made the post.

Re: Favorite movie endings?

Yep. They absolutely bungled the ending to the Truman Show. Whatever Weir was going for showing people moving on with their lives just weakened Truman's exit from the bubble.

More of an ending scene. I just love this shot.

Yes I'm such a sucker for those endings. Adds some real emotional gravitas. Especially with Schindler's List. And to add more to that the movie ending as well with as distraught as he was saying he could have saved one more person. Powerful stuff.

Re: Favorite movie endings?

So, a lot of The Usual Suspects and no mention of Casablanca? (I know that the writer didn't know the origin of the phrase).

Casablanca, the perfect movie with the perfect ending.

Big Fish too, my wife and I love the movie, we always cry at the end. Decided to watch it with our 12 years old daughter. First time she cries watching a movie.

This may always be my favorite, and the soundtrack is phenomenal.

Re: Favorite movie endings?

Was it the first Nightmare on Elm St which ended with the kids getting into Freddy-car and driving off? Been many years but I remember being blown away by having a "bad" ending like that.
