Never say never... http://www.indiewire.com/2017/08/eth...py-1201863636/
I certainly would love to see it, but at least we got a trilogy with this one. Flirting was part 2 of a trilogy (following The Year My Voice Broke), and the third was never made, and likely never will (much to my disappointment).
Another ending I'd add is The Truman Show.

The Haunting Of Julia (aka Full Circle)
This horror movie got an incredible unexpected ending. Nuff said. I wish it was on blu-ray.

The Deer Hunter. The beautiful quietude of the gathering, and then Stanley Myers's deeply moving score over the credits.

For me, Lost in Translation. Love that movie and its bittersweet ending.

And Luke’s facial movements! Was he going to speak?! Was he taking a shit in his tattered robes?! They couldn’t believe they had to wait until Episode VIII to find out!

I would have preferred the last two minutes or so of The Truman Show to be slightly re-edited to where Truman walking through the door was the final shot of the film.
I also would have eliminated that dopey “what else is on?” line (or at the very least would have made that a post-credits scene).

In fact, when I first saw it I wholly thought Truman walking through the door was going to be the ending, and was thinking of that when I made the post.

Yep. They absolutely bungled the ending to the Truman Show. Whatever Weir was going for showing people moving on with their lives just weakened Truman's exit from the bubble.

Re: Favorite movie endings?
So, a lot of The Usual Suspects and no mention of Casablanca? (I know that the writer didn't know the origin of the phrase).
Casablanca, the perfect movie with the perfect ending.
Big Fish too, my wife and I love the movie, we always cry at the end. Decided to watch it with our 12 years old daughter. First time she cries watching a movie.

The Korean movie Memories of Murder also has a memorable closing scene. The part at the end when he looks straight into the camera is haunting.

Was it the first Nightmare on Elm St which ended with the kids getting into Freddy-car and driving off? Been many years but I remember being blown away by having a "bad" ending like that.
