Like pretty much everyone here, I loved it. I didn't rate it at 5 stars just because I do think not titling it Part One and the hype/buildup over the title of 4 really led me to believe something different was happening at the end but no it was a cliffhanger leading right to 4 and one of Marvel's rare poor choices.

Re: Avengers: Infinity War (Russo Bros., 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Wife and I are seeing it tonight, but she's made the error of reading a "spoilerific" article. I had to remind her that 1) This is the 3rd in a series of 4 Avengers movies; 2) many of the actors are already contracted for further movies; 3) this is a COMIC BOOK movie for a franchise that Disney/Marvel has no intention of killing; and 4) to just think of it as Empire Strikes Back amped up to 100.

She felt better. I told her the after-credit scene will actually help her feel better, as well.

Yes, I've already spoiled it for myself, knowing I was going to encounter this before we went. LOL

Loved it. So basically, only the "core" Avengers survived in the end, right (not knowing what happened with Clint, obviously)? Plus Nebula and Rocket.

Strange lived right? My wife and I were having a debate last night. She said he faded away too. I remember just cutting from him after he said "it was the only way".

I remember you saying your wife is extremely hyped for Captain Marvel... she will definitely be happy with the tease.

Strange is gone.

War Machine, Okoye, M'Baku were left as well.

Yeah. Basically, I nerd-splained it to her. And you are so correct about her love of Captain Marvel.

I think Hank Pym, Scott Lang and Wasp will help on reviving people/universes because of their knowledge of the Quantum Realm

Yeah, leaves me wondering where that film falls in the time line...right after Civil War or in what has been left of the planet after Thanos?

Has to be right after getting off The Raft... then the ending or credit scene can sync up with Infinity War...lead into Avengers 4.

I know this will not go over well with some DCEU fans, but I loved this review quote on RT:
Roaring through 160 minutes of action, humor, character development, epic evil and moving nobility, it is darker and edgier, yet lighter and more stirring than anything offered in another superhero franchise.

Ha! I'm a diehard DC guy, but he's right. I saw it last night and I really liked it! I thought the first 5-10 minutes were fantastic at setting up tension and play up Thanos as a formidable opponent.

The first act really reminded me of the true blue Mega Crossovers from the comics, especially Crisis on Infinite Earths, where Flash appears to Batman with a warning and he gathers the Justice League and they just sort of pick up heroes doing their own thing along the way "Oh hey Blue Beetle, we could use your help!" Whereas the first Avengers films started with a specific gathering to try and prevent something, this one was more taking anyone who's available while events are already in motion.

I was also surprised by how funny it was (at least in the first 2/3rds). The non-spoiler way I was describing it was like the Jurassic Park ride at Universal. Most of it is seeing the plants and animatronic dinosaurs, having a good time. Then that T. rex comes out and it's like "OH FU-"

Which will throw the Venom timeline off IF the Holland appearance is actually in that film, making it prior to IW. Yes, I know it's not part of the MCU, but it should still impact the audience if they see Spidey/Parker in a film after he's already turned to dust in this one.

Agents/Shield did try their hardest to link themselves to all the movies at one point in time (One episode had them doing the cleanup in England after Dark World and another episode led directly to the start of Age of Ultron, with Coulson finding the location of Von Strucker) But they're not even trying anymore now.
If you watch the red carpet premier-shows that Marvel always does, you'll always see the Agents/Shield cast members appear and get interviewed. Kinda sad to just see them treated as bastard stepchildren these days. And yeah, I know Coulson will be in Captain Marvel, but it's gonna be set in the past and nothing's moving forward with the rest.

The only people that are hating it the most are the Holland/Hiddleston fangirls.

Causing Hulk to stay indoors. But as others said, the grand finale with him next year should be rewarding.

I wanted to point out one little moment that really got me. When Cap's holding back the Gauntlet, we see Thanos making a jeering face at him (As seen in the trailer) but right before that, Thanos makes a face of bewilderment towards Cap. Similar to the face of concern Thor made when Mjolnir had slightly moved at the hands of Cap. *dafeels*

I still need to see the movie but I think a better ending would be
Spoiler:
Thanos is mortally wounded and disappears to the planet only to turn to ash with the Gauntlet left to be found. It allows for this to be the only instance where Thanos is defeated until a new reality is created.

Spent the last two weeks going through the MCU, this film fulfilled every want that I desired it to have. God damn, that was a well balanced and well made film. Need to see it a couple more times.

I don't think I've ever seen a film that had this many characters and still did them all justice. Marvel is crazy if they ever stop working with the the Russos.

As for the TV shows, yea the two divisions are not on best of terms but I think the film division will stay separate, in case they ever want to put those characters back on film permanently.

I was worried about it going in until the Guardians showed up and a funky 70s tune was playing. Then I knew all was fine.

Could you imagine whoever called Sony and told them what they had planned here? I wish I could listen in on that conversation.

Amazing movie. It had so many characters and managed to do something meaningful with every single one. I loved every second of it. I hate that we have to wait a year to see how it plays out, but I got an epic story, which is all I wanted.
