Spoiler:

So, turns out Lara Means is pretty dead on here.

Professor/Smart Hulk was actually supposed to be in Infinity War nearly down to the wire of editing the final locked film.

The scene would have had Banner trying to negotiate with the Hulk in the Hulk Buster armor and the two eventually coming to terms with merging together. This would have given us the much expected scene of Hulk busting out of the armor and, of course, alter joining the fray on the battlefield from the trailer.

There was then a scene with Natasha after the battle trying to calm Hulk ("sun's getting real low") but suddenly he spoke to her.

But, as is often the case with movies, they ran it through a few test audiences who found things confusing...("why was Hulk suddenly talking...etc.") and the opted to cut it and leave it to solve in the 5 year jump of Endgame.

That would have been a pretty cool scene. You can tell that they were setting it up all through Infinity War.

Instead of removing it, they should have just reworked the scene so it was clearer as to what happened so it didn't go over the heads of the LCD idiots.

God, I love this movie, Endgame too of course. But such great set ups, so many great moments and lines. That opening, gives me chills. Kept rewinding. Doing a mini Spider-Man marathon in MCU. First Homecoming, this, Endgame, then Far From Home in 3D. I know not exact timeline, but just bridging bc want to see FFH again...

Re: Avengers: Infinity War (Russo Bros., 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Totally agree, OldBoy. With everything closed and off work, I've decided to spend some time re-watching The Infinity Saga only in a different order then I have before. Such an amazing journey. Here is my order now of watching the saga (trying to double up two flicks a day).

1) Captain America: The First Avenger
2) Captain Marvel
(outside of both starting with "Captain", a good start of the saga before it really picks up as these both begin way before and nice telling of the early days of the Teseract and first heroes as well as Fury and the start of Avengers Initiative)

3) Iron Man
4) Iron Man 2
(kicking off the saga proper with the beginning of recruiting the Avengers)

5) The Incredible Hulk
6) Thor

7) The Avengers
8) Iron Man 3

9) Thor: The Dark World
10) Captain America: The Winter Soldier

11) Guardians of the Galaxy
12) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
(though released a few years apart actually take place a few months from one another and make for a good double feature night in this viewing of the saga)

13) Avengers: Age of Ultron
14) Ant-Man

15) Captain America: Civil War
(I did this one as the only flick that night as I feel it's a nice buffer for all that comes next)

16) Spider-Man: Homecoming
17) Black Panther
(both take place pretty well following the events of Civil War and show the impact of it on these two characters

18) Doctor Strange
(no direct connection to the flicks before and good to place here to show passing of time between Civil War fallout and coming flicks / I did it as a stand alone night)

19) Ant-Man and The Wasp
20) Thor: Ragnarok
(I didn't do the mid credits sequence for Ant-Man and The Wasp and feel this flick fits best right before the war starts. Ragnarok credits kick you right into where Infinity War will begin)

21) Avengers: Infinity War
-Captain Marvel credits squence (perfect to segway into this from the end credits of Infinity War)
-Ant-Man and The Wasp credits sequence (a good segway too into where End Game kicks off with the fading of Hawkeye's family and also setting up Ant-Man's return after the 5 year gap)
22) Avengers: End Game

23) Spider-man: Far From Home
(the epilogue to it all, I placed stand alone)

Onward to Phase 4!

Re: Avengers: Infinity War (Russo Bros., 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

If I'm going to rank the MCU movies (I'm thinking of doing a Facebook poll tourney on it after the current one). Also have them sorted into "Tiers":
1. Black Panther /// 2. The Winter Solider
3. Doctor Strange /// 4. Guardians Vol. 2 /// 5. Thor: Ragnarok
6. The First Avenger /// 7. Infinity War
8. Iron Man 3 /// 9. Endgame /// 10. Age of Ultron /// 11. Avengers
12. Captain Marvel /// 13. Far From Home /// 14. Homecoming
15. Ant-Man /// 16. Ant-Man and the Wasp /// 17. Iron Man /// 18. Iron Man 2
19. Civil War /// 20. Guardians of the Galaxy
21. Thor /// 22. The Incredible Hulk
23. The Dark World

So many great moments I forgot about. When Cap makes his first appearance in Scotland to help Wanda and Vision. Just perfect! I’ll have to see Endgame again, even with daunting time. I mean I loved it, but really forgot how much I love this one.

Interesting. There was a whole 45 minute sequence cut from the beginning. It might have given the movie a slower start but I would have liked to see it.

Re: Avengers: Infinity War (Russo Bros., 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Yeah but 45 minutes to see them basically destroy the Nova Corps? Unless it was going to lead to a Nova standalone movie, I'm not sure how necessary that was considering they already had a scene with the Asgardians which was a much more recent movie and had to connect to what Thor and Hulk were doing.

I am curious what other deleted/planned scenes there were, because as action packed as both movies are, there are just some baffling decisions made (like Hulk's whole arc being between movies somehow)

Re: Avengers: Infinity War (Russo Bros., 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I doubt it was actually 45 minutes, and I can't imagine they shot a ton of footage - if any - but I'm sure a scene was written and perhaps storyboarded.

It would be interesting to see a coffee table book on the development of that whole Infinity storyline, particularly Infinity War and End Game. Something like the Star Wars books by Rinzler.

Yeah, the Hulk story decisions still seem weird, especially all the stuff cut from the movie that we saw in trailers, etc.

"They shot it, but they never wanted to spend the money on the effects and they didn’t want the movie to be as long as the second one [Endgame] was."

45 minutes of a tennis ball on a stick in front of a green screen.

Re: Avengers: Infinity War (Russo Bros., 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Jim Starlin is a great guy and a great creative force, but that doesn't mean he 100% knows exactly how much footage was shot on a movie and how long a scene would be. He comes off as knowing some stuff but exaggerating what was actually there, unconsciously or not.

Re: Avengers: Infinity War (Russo Bros., 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

45 minutes seems way too long for that.

Seems like something that could have easily been told in a five minute sequence.
