Always been a fan of Full Metal Jacket, Loved his Cameo in The Frighteners and thought he was the perfect fit for the Janitors dad in Scrubs

Re: RIP R Lee Ermey

Damn! He definitely gave a legendary performance in FMJ.

Looking over his filmography I was surprised to see so much voiceover work and a few incredited performances in some good movies.

He's great as the leader of Michael Caine's henchmen in ON DEADLY GROUND (1994), a good adversary for Seagal.

His part in those films are honestly some of the most unsettling horror scenes ever in my opinion. Just such an intensity and creepiness to that character. Also obviously we all know him for Full Metal Jacket which is a classic performance. RIP.

Hard to believe he was only in his early 40s when he was in FMJ.

Damn.

Marines die. That's what we're here for. But the Marine Corps lives forever. And that means YOU live forever.

Re: RIP R Lee Ermey

Should have gotten a best supporting actor Oscar nom for his performance in Full Metal Jacket. I am sure they nominated shit that year instead. I would look it up but it would probably just piss me off.

Re: RIP R Lee Ermey

Ah, the year Connery got his award for being old.

My dad went through Marine boot camp during Vietnam and said Ermey's performance was how his drill instructors were. Said everything up until Private Pyle kills him was how it was. He never would have been able to shoot the rifle because he wouldn't have had access to the firing pin.

Re: RIP R Lee Ermey

His role in FMJ is the stuff of legend, and as a horror nut I thought he was great in the TCM remake and prequel.
