I'd ask if anyone's seen this, but I'm assuming it's another one that Netflix scooped up for burial before it could (presumably?) go straight to video anyway. Interesting that Netflix's trailer downplays the one aspect that will probably divide opinions: the makeup FX.

As a sci-fi addict, I'm compelled to watch this on NF.
I really do need to go into detox...

I watched this last night. Don't bother. It's awful and pointless. At one point, Sam Worthington was "the man"... not sure how he went downhill so quickly. I guess as long as they make "Avatar" movies, he's in luck but this was not a good choice by his agent.

Surprisingly, I found this to be a very good film.

Like almost all good SCIENCE-fiction movies, it DOES force the viewer to contemplate the morality of science.
This is old school Science Fiction.
If you're looking for the Action/Adventure Blockbuster type of sci-fi, this isn't for you.
But if you're interested in something that forces the viewer to THINK about "What if," you could do worse than this.

The problem with this one was that it took way too long to get to where were going. The first part of the film is great but by the time the "change" happens the clock is already ticking and then it ends. It definitely needed a slightly better script and longer running time. Production values and the make-up, cgi effects were top-notch, though.

I enjoyed the slow burn.
I believe it was necessary to show the emotional connection between the 2 main characters in order to justify what transpires in the last act.
Otherwise, it might not have come across as credible (regarding the decisions that were made).

It was fascinating to consider the depth of the dilemma mankind faced, as a species and individually...there were heavy costs to both, with no easy answers.
