Robert the Bruce -- Braveheart followup -- S: Angus Macfayden

As I said in a thread some time back, I felt Mel Gibson missed out on a chance for a great sequel to Braveheart by not telling the story of Robert the Bruce, who picked up where Wallace left off in leading Scottish independence.

Well, turns out there is a movie on him in the works, and Angus MacFayden is playing Robert yet again.

http://deadline.com/2018/02/angus-ma...st-1202283227/

EXCLUSIVE: Angus Macfadyen who played the renowned warrior and king Robert the Bruce in Braveheart is portraying the historical hero again in what is turning out to be an epic Scottish drama Robert the Bruce from Aussie director Richard Gray (Sugar Mountain).

Macfadyen and Eric Belgau scripted the story that continues where the Oscar-winning Braveheart left off.

Joining Macfadyen in the historical drama are Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Crown) and Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous) who worked with Macfadyen before in We Bought A Zoo. Zach McGowan (Black Sails), Emma Kenney (Shameless), Anna Hutchison (Spartacus, Cabin in the Woods), Diarmaid Murtagh (Vikings, The Monuments Men), Talitha Bateman (Geostorm), Gabriel Bateman (Benji), Seoras Wallace (Braveheart, We Were Soldiers), Shane Coffey (Pretty Little Liars, Sugar Mountain), Kevin McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Melora Walters (Magnolia) round out the cast.

Robert the Bruce follows the widow Moira (Hutchison) and her child (Gabriel Bateman), niece (Talitha Bateman) and nephew (Lessard) who save the King of Scotland, Robert The Bruce.

Helmer Gray is producing with Macfadyen and Hutchison alongside Kim Barnard, Nick Farnell, Cameron Nuggent and Andrew Curry. Cater Boehm of Ponderosa Films, Sharon Cox, Mike Gillespie at Primary Wave Entertainment and Grayís Yellow Brick Films are executive producers.

Re: Robert the Bruce film coming

Cool, there hasn’t been a good Medieval type movie in a long time, I’d be down to watch it.

I bet a woman would know it's spelled medieval.

It would be nice if this turned out well, but something of a sequel at such a remove with the principal creative talent not involved doesn't seem like a recipe for a good flick.

Let's see if they include his lesser known brother Jimmy the Bruce.

David Mackenzie is making a film about him too (Outlaw King) for Netflix. https://forum.dvdtalk.com/movie-talk...r-johnson.html

Fixed it, and I don’t care. I posted right before I went to bed that might have something to do with it. Back to the movie I think it’s really cool the same actor from Braveheart is playing Robert the Bruce again,I only wish Mel had some behind the scenes involvement with the movie.

I heard they might hire him to sit in an office and complain about the Jews.

I wish Mel would be involved to give the movie some good over the top bloody violent battles similar to what Braveheart is famous for.

Being Hollywood, that would be a 24/7 job.

Actually, it's mediaeval.

as much as I hated Robert the Bruce for what he did in the movie I always liked the character if that makes any sense. I would watch this in a heartbeat..

Trailer! Not sure how much of a theatrical release it'll have...but I'll definitely check it out if it's playing near me.

Braveheart is my favorite movie. There were only about a dozen people in the theater on opening weekend when I saw it. There will probably be fewer for this, but I'm totally there.

Looks straight to video quality. And the Chris Pine one on Netflix was so dull
