re: Jurassic World: Dominion (2022, D: Trevorrow)

I read this over on that other forum:

Spoiler:
Someone I may or may not know who may or may not work for Universal might've come across a status report for a movie called "Arcadia" directed by Colin Trevorrow staring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard with the following description: "When young Maisie is abducted by dino-poachers, Owen and Claire set out to find and rescue her, with their journey taking them to a dinosaur habitat operated by a global corporation with a possibly sinister agenda...that's even now being investigated by Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler."

Screw that, I'm out. I don't care anymore, even if Sam Neill and Laura Dern come back. That's only for a paycheck.

As opposed to those who return to a sixth Jurassic Park movie because it's their passion project?

Or just simply because it's a good script. But who are we kidding!

Laura Dern was awful in Jurassic Park. I cringe every time she speaks.

I liked Fallen Kingdom

Maybe because I heard everyone hated it and I had low expectations. Or maybe because I saw it via free HBO preview week. I enjoyed it!

Loved it on first viewing. It wasn't as appealing on second viewing. The island stuff is still amazing though. Spending 2/3rds of the movie in a mansion/basement was a horrible idea.

I'm down for more Ellie and Alan. Bring them and Malcom back for some more dino action.

I'd be fine if they cut out Owen, Claire and the mutant kid and just give us the OG cast back.

I’m assuming the short is not listed on Directv’s guide and is just limped in with JW. I’ve got it set to record.

After how terrible the last one was, I don't think this one could save the new trilogy.

The last one WAS pretty terrible but I think the series could be salvaged if done right.

If nothing else, it could be refreshing to take the series in new direction. We’ve seen enough “dinosaurs running amok on a tropical island”. It might be nice to see something new.

It could also be “the last 20 minutes of The Lost World” bad as well but I have faith.

Worst case scenario, it sucks and I consider the series as only the original Jurassic Park and Jurassic World as a direct sequel. I will disregard the rest.

I like that it deals with Jurassic World and all of the escaped dinosaurs...

Skimmed the short. So more people trapped in trailers and dinos breaking into them? This franchise is truly dead. Even those cut scenes during the credits look silly.

So we just want another amusement park that falls into chaos?

My whole family loved it and wanted more.

I want to say I just want dinosaurs chasing and terrorizing people and that location doesn't matter. Then again we just got dionsaurs running amok in a basement of a mansion... not exactly the best locale. So what do I know?

Ok, I laughed at the wedding one. And the baby stuck in the high chair. Yeah, I’m sick.

Production value was good. Story and characters were terribly unoriginal. I don’t know what the answer is, but we need something new story-wise. A new setting for the same tropes isn’t it.

For a short film, I really liked it. And I also liked the post credits where the dinos have inhabited the cities and are causing havoc.

Good special effects,
