Looks cute. Since it’s on Disney+ I’ll watch it for sure.

There’s “When You Wish Upon a Star” and that “I’ve Got No Strings” song made popular again thanks to The Avengers a few years ago, but aside from those, there’s not a bunch of memorable songs in Pinocchio. We’ll see how they turn out for a new generation.

Hanks did not pull a Tom Cruise and demand this be a theatrical only release?

It has all the elements for a big screen release.

The shot of the ticking clocks reminds me of what Zemeckis did with Back to the Future.

I am willing to bet a lot of people's heads exploded when they saw the fairy godmother in the trailer.

I'm all for diversity, but you have to admit that was an interesting decision when they mimicked everything else from original animated classic except for this one character. And I love Cynthia Erivo. She is gorgeous and insanely talented. And one of my favorite guests on Graham Norton this past season.

I thought that was Jada in the trailer.

Ehh did you mean to post this in 1984?

Anyway. Why are there so many Pinocchio movies?
Seems like there’s been a new one every year for last 3 years.

Well known character in the public domain.
Same reason there are so many Sherlock Holmes, Dracula and Snow White movies.

I would say more up to like 2000 or so he was directing a lot of good stuff. His more recent output isn’t always as interesting, but I think he’s still a pretty solid director.

I mean for stuff like the Back to the Future Trilogy, Cast Away, Forrest Gump, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit alone I feel like he’s deserving of being in the conversation for one of the best directors and often is overlooked.

And there's Contact, The Walk, Romancing The Stone and Death Becomes Her. Overall he's probably my second favorite director next to Spielberg.

I assume with a Sept release they can put this out on Blu-ray and DVD in Nov or Dec for the Holiday shopping season.

Sure then they can put it on the shelves right next to the Wandavision, Mandalorian, Hamilton and Noelle Blu Rays and DVDs that also don't exist.

The reason they spend so much to acquire and produce Disney+ exclusives is that they want people to subscribe to Disney+ in order to watch them.

Yes the Pixar films have gone straight to Disney+ and still gone for sale as Blu Rays, but those were meant to be theatrical releases. This movie has always been a big budget Disney+ title. We shall see I suppose.

Turning Red got a home video release and this is a movie and not a TV show so maybe the odds are better for a DVD release.

The Beatles show also got a theatrical release so have no idea what they decide to put and not put out on physical media.

Turning Red isn't a Disney Plus movie, it's just a theatrical Pixar film that Disney decided to release on Disney Plus during the pandemic. One of three actually. The Beatles will always have rights issues different than anyone else because, you know, they're The Beatles.
