I like it because it greatly expands on the plot of the movie and gives us an idea of what to expect: claustrophobia and screaming.

WTF was that?

Maybe when there is nothing else to watch. Which will probably be never.

You guys are either on too many drugs or not enough drugs. That trailer was fucking awesome.

This will be screening at the Mill Valley Film Festival on 10/5/19, with Robert Pattinson in attendance.

Problem is it's already sold out (as Early Bird Tickets were available to CFI Members for well over a week now) and the Festival is asking $85-90 for the screening and the follow-up Q&A -screwy-

Bought my ticket for a screening on Saturday morning.

Lots of tickets have already been sold for it!

It was a bold choice for him to attend fully dressed as Batman, but he pulled it off nicely

Saw this movie immediately after watching JoJo Rabbit (love the A-List!). I’ve never seen “The Witch”, but mainly went because I was intrigued by the odd trailer, the 4x3 presentation, blank and white and the strange premise.

it’s a “What’s going to happen?” movie, that keeps you glued to the seat to see what happens. Pattison and Defoe had to carry the movie - both were really good, although I’d say Defoe did an amazing job (there was a monologue he gave that got me mesmerized).

Great use of sound to maintain tension and unease.

Overall, it’s a psychological drama with comedic elements. Still unpacking the movie though, but there were visuals that seemed to lend to require further definition

How does the film go about handling the plot twist that Pattinson is a vampire and Willem Dafoe is Taylor Lautner ?

Looks like I'll catch a noon showing on Friday at Alamo Drafthouse. I wonder if I should get an adult shake or two?

I watched The Witch last night and thought it was good, but not great. Still looking forward to this one and I plan to see it Thursday night.

Did you see it last night? I'm ashamed to admit I went and fell asleep. I just got back from Europe and am still readjusting to the time difference. I'm going to have to find some time to go see it again. I'm going to use up all my A-List slots this weekend on other things, but I have some passes. I guess I'll have to try and do an early evening showing during next week.

From what I did see... imagery and sound design were awesome.

Trippy movie. Great performances. Lots of humor sprinkled throughout. The b/w photography was beautiful. The aspect ratio didn't bother me and was inviting to sit closer but couldn't with reserved seating. Oh, and that mermaid.

That last shot could be nightmare fuel.

The reviewer-who-shall-remain-nameless gave it an A+, which he hasn't gave a film in almost 2 years.

I did not like The Witch but they're saying this is Lovecraftian and also takes from that Gerard Butler film called The Vanishing that was released on video here a few months ago. I'm not sure if I'll make it to see this one in theaters yet.

I did. About 12 people in the cinema.

I quite liked it. More than The Witch. I think it'll be more rewatchable too. 3.5 fog horns out of 5.

Great performances by Pattinson and Dafoe, beautiful cinematography and a cleverly twisted storyline.

I give this movie 4 farts out of 5.

Great visuals and sound production and the performances are solid. However, I needed a stronger payoff for all the ambiguity to be worth it. I needed something more definitive that made everything click for me. As it was, I ended up going home and looking at other people's opinions and theories to see if they saw something I didn't.

I thought it was ok, the last third really dragged for me.
Dafoe was insanely fantastic in this, though.
