Favorite LA based movies?

This has a lot as well and some directors love the locale (Mann).

Probably go with tie with L.A. Confidential and Heat. Cinematography and they were just pure LA during respected time periods. Mann, as we know loves LA and Collateral was visceral as well. For comedy I always like LA Story...

Boulevard Nights (1979)
One of the few films depicting Chicano gang life where the characters don't talk like caricatures. None of that "Simoooooon, ese" stuff.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
Old L.A. is always fun.

Internal Affairs (1990)
Lesser known Richard Gere/Andy Garcia film. Not great, but definitely good.

The Rocketeer (1991)
I like the way old L.A. looked. I also though this had better story than the original Rocketeer comic.

Mi Vida Loca (1993)
I always liked Sad Girl and it was cool to see her make an appearance in Desperado. Felt very accurate to how teen life was back then.

Devil in a Blue Dress (1995)
Easy Rawlins was a cool, yet everyman-type of detective. The setting and atmosphere were so rich. All the performances were great.
"Siddown, Junior."

Drive (2011)
Gosling's performance could have easily veered off into parody or camp, but everything else fell right into place, especially the film score. I would like to see a version with the original film score though.

Pretty much my top 3. I'd take out Boogie Nights and add Swingers to my list.
