I didn't think Black Panther dragged at all.
It was a character driven movie more than an action driven movie and that seems to have thrown some people who are a bit ADD when it comes to movies.
Since I grew up watching classic movies from the 30's to the 50's it seemed plenty fast paced to me and never dragged one bit. I found what the characters had to say in those dialogue driven scenes to be far more interesting than the action scenes themselves.
I wouldn't change a thing when it comes to the pacing of the movie.

Modern movies have contributed to this cinematic ADD. Fast cuts, scenes that don't breathe and allow for proper character development, a reliance on constant action to cover up weak plots or dialogue - those aren't good things, but some have come to view them as virtues.

Historically speaking, the movie WAS brisk, so, fair or not, if someone calls the movie slow or says it drags then you've got to wonder what leads to that opinion.

Full disclosure. I've never cared for the BP character. Like at all. I also was never impressed by the trailers for this movie and didn't think it looked very good. Now what did I think of this? I liked it but didn't love it.
Honestly the negatives for me are sticking out more in my mind than the positives. I thought Wakanda was not as visually spectacular as it should be. I felt that there was too much story and this easily could have been broken into two parts. I also just think the concept for BP is so ridiculous that its hard for me to get behind, especially here where he's portrayed as a mix between Aquaman and Batman.
I did however like Michael B Jordan and when it was over I found myself entertained, but nothing really stuck with me and made me go "WOW wasn't that cool". I would probably give it a 3.5/5. I enjoyed it more than Civil War, Dr. Strange, Homecoming and Guardians 2, but less than Ragnork.

I think this is a very good movie. Definitely formulaic in terms of structure but I appreciate a bad guy who isn't motivated by a generalized hatred of the world and need to destroy it. Great visuals, although 3D was totally superfluous. Got a little too political for me in points but not overly so. Enjoyed it and will pick it up on home video.

very good Marvel movie. good movie in general, but sometimes hype exceeds expectations and this is no exception. while the action was sparse it was appropriate, though i think Coogler is not the greatest at shooting or staging the fight scenes. very good origin story, good humor and very good characters. look forward to more. gave me a The Lion King vibe at times, and not just because of the music. i guess Ross (Freeman) is the new Coulson (Gregg), though Gregg brought a little more and better dry humor. Love seeing Serkis in front of the camera too. he's just good at everything.

It was... very good. Wasn't totally on board with Chadwick Boseman until the last half but Michael B. Jordan finally brought us a memorable Marvel villain. Only took 18 (or w/e) movies.
4.0/5, (B+, 7.8/10, 3/4)
Also, this.

Thought it was good, though not great. But that’s most of Marvel’s intro movies.
And lol at young Whitaker. That was absolutely ridiculous and far fetched to believe that he would have looked like that in 1992.

Not sure what ur listing, but my 2D showing didn’t have RP1, Rim or Infinity. Did have one with actual retired basketball players playing these old guys that looked very funny, surprisingly. Uncle Drew, I think...

I saw that at the Dolby Cinema screening I attended. Bad makeup, but yeah, I see it making bank this year. I laughed a little too loudly a couple of times.

I saw it in 2D and was baffled by the choice of trailers the theater paired it with -- mostly for shitty looking comedies like "Game Night" and "I Feel Pretty". The only comic book movie preview we got was for "Venom", which looks terrible. With Black Panther being a Disney release, I was surprised they didn't at least show the teasers for "Infinity War" and "Solo".

They have stuff like that playing 30 minutes before the showtime, they had a short documentary on Wakaliwood as part of the preshow that was pretty interesting, but they play regular trailers once the movie starts like everyone else -- the only real difference being they'll at times push a trailer for something they're involved in or feel strongly about... I think I saw Colossal before every movie I saw for six months prior to its release, for example.
