Yeah, I cried at the end of E.T. but I was eight years old.

There's usually a new movie every, say, two years or so that draws a few tears out of me, so yeah, absolutely.

The most recently-released one that did it was Arrival.

Pretty sure I used to be a never-cry, but ever since my Dad died about ten years ago I started to change. Then after getting married and becoming a step-father 7 years ago, I now well-up almost daily. Rarely a full-blown cry, but emotional scenes of any emotion get to me pretty easily. Heck, news reports and commercials can do it.

I can remember seeing A Dog's Purpose at an advanced screening last year. Over a 30 minute span the dog kept dying a number of times. You could hear a lot of people crying every time the dog died. The woman next to me was bawling so much I thought she was going to have a heart attack or a complete emotional breakdown and fall from her seat and onto the floor.

I think one scene kind of made me cry and gave me goosebumps at the same time was the Wildebeast Stampede Scene. It was just so cool to see on the Big screen in 1994. For my contribution to this thread, I'll add Atlantis: THe Lost Empire, it terms of just gorgeous animation, amazing visuals, and such a bombastic sound mix. It's kind of a complete scene like the opening that makes me cry a bit if that makes any sense.

Also this scene in Terminator 2, seeing it at home for years its never been a big deal, but on the big screen its so hauntingly beautiful it made me cry.

I teared up a bit when Han Solo died even though I knew it was coming.

Re: Has a movie made you cry for one reason or another?

I remember as a child/young teen crying during movies such as A High Wind in Jamaica and Little Women.

My dad...tough guy WWII vet, sheet metal mechanic, four-sport athlete, hunter, drinker, and gambler...used to blubber like a baby during emotional scenes. My brother and I used to snicker at him (this was back in the day when families were lucky to have one tv, which was in our parents' bedroom), and our mom would scold us.

Now that I'm older, I find myself getting choked up quite often at scenes that I would have found "mildly touching" back in the day.

Most recently, we were re-watching "Lars and the Real Girl," and I was glad that I was in a recliner slightly in front of my wife.

I don't cry very much, but I was in a particularly vulnerable place dealing with love and loss when I watched Arrival and I sobbed uncontrollably at the end. There are very few pieces of music that fit a cinematic emotional climax more perfectly than On the Nature of Daylight does in Arrival.

The only one I can think of that tops it is Adagio for Strings from The Elephant Man, which is another movie that always brings me to tears.

I’ll second (or third) the first few minutes of The Lion King. It’s just magnificent filmmaking.

The very end of A River Runs Through It is so profound. I think it was the first time I cried in a film. I guess I was about 13.

Toy Story 2 and 3 have some powerful moments of sadness and selflessness that are very moving.

So did I shortly after that scene when I realized Disney didn't understand a fncking thing about SW and Ep.7 was not going to be the sequel we had waited more than 30 years for.

Schindler’s List - the girl in the red dress and the ending sequence. Also Passion of the Christ for various religious reasons.

I might have shed a triumphant tear at the end of Passion as well. Not sure why? Know I love it. But not even Catholic. Haven’t brought myself to seeing again even though I want too. SL as well...

Surprised not a single No as of yet. I know people who don’t have emotional attachments to movies. Even though they like movies...

I think you mean you're not even Christian. Catholicism is the largest denomination of Christianity. All Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholics.

People who don't have emotional attachments to movies aren't likely to frequent this forum.

A recent brilliant scene that brought tears to my eyes for its completely perfect unity of theme, location, style, emotion, etc is the The Griffith Observatory scene in La La Land.

I've never met such an emotionless person. If I did, I'd be cautious to turn my back on them, as I don't want to end up with my head in their freezer.

Gandalf falling in the pit and the combo of the music... brings tears to my eyes

Glory when they rushed the compound

Glory when Matthew Brodericks character is about the lead the charge and his squad salutes him. As he walks through them.

The ending of Battlefield Earth when i knew i spent 9 bucks too much for this fucking movie

Field of Dreams. Obviously it has been explained here in the thread why this movie resonates with so many people, but the ending gets me everytime it comes on TV.
