Cowboy Ninja Viking (D: MacLaren) S: Pratt

Michelle MacLaren has come on to direct Universal’s adaptation of “Cowboy Ninja Viking” starring Chris Pratt.

Based on the Image Comics graphic novel by A.J. Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo, the pic was most recently written by Craig Mazin. The original draft was written by Zombieland writers Paul Wernick and Everett David Reese.

The film is an adaptation of the graphic novel revolving around an assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas: a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking.

Entertainment 360, the production arm of Management 360, Mark Gordon via the Mark Gordon Company, Michael De Luca for Michael De Luca Productions, and Pratt will produce. VP of production Sara Scott will oversee production on behalf of the studio.

The pic is set to be released on June 28, 2019.

The film marks yet another collaboration between Pratt and Universal, which recently wrapped production on “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.” That movie is set to open on June 22.

Best known for taking episodic TV and giving it a cinematic feel, MacLaren most recently executive produced and directed the pilot of the critically acclaimed series “The Deuce,” starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco. She was the EP on “Breaking Bad” and directed some of the most successful television series of all time, including “Game of Thrones,” “Westworld,” and “The Walking Dead.”

Priyanka Chopra is in talks to join Universal’s adaptation of “Cowboy Ninja Viking” starring Chris Pratt.

The role was one of the more highly coveted in town and Chopra beat out a slew of talent after a chemistry test with Pratt went extremely well.

The film is based on the Image Comics graphic novel by A.J. Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo. It was adapted by Dan Mazeau (“Wrath of the Titans”) and Ryan Engle (“The Commuter”). Craig Mazin wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay with an original version by “Deadpool” writers Paul Wernick and Everett David Reese.

The novel revolves around an assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas: a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking.

Entertainment 360 — the production arm of Management 360 — Mark Gordon via the Mark Gordon Company, Michael De Luca for Michael De Luca Productions, and Pratt will produce. VP of production Sara Scott will oversee production on behalf of the studio.

The movie hits theaters on June 28, 2019.

Chopra is coming off her final season of the ABC series “Quantico” and most recently appeared in the drama “A Kid Like Jake.” She can next be seen in the New Line comedy “Isn’t It Romantic” opposite Rebel Wilson. She is repped by WME and Grubman Shire & Meiselas.

So he'll be able to rope a calf, climb up walls, and steer a ship through rough seas. Yep, those skills will come in handy to an assassin.

re: Cowboy Ninja Viking (D: MacLaren) S: Pratt

Universal has pulled Cowboy Ninja Viking back from its June 28, 2019 release date, amid hot rumors of heavy turbulence on the set. Sources said that the film came to a screeching halt yesterday and there were rumors there might be some changes in elements. Studio has confirmed the picture has pulled back from its fast track and will go back into development. It had been slated to begin production in mid-September.

Chris Pratt and Priyanka Chopra were set to star, with Game of Thrones and Westworld director Michelle MacLaren helming the story about a new type of assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas — that of cowboy, ninja and viking.

The budget is big enough that the studio wants to make sure things are right before production begins. MacLaren is getting her feature directing assignment on a huge project, this after directing episodes of Game of Thrones, Westworld, The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul.

Craig Mazin wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay with an original draft by Paul Wernick and Everett David Reese.

The Image Comics graphic novel is by AJ Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo.

I wonder if Chris Pratt threw a religious fit. I hear he is ultra religious now.

They hadn’t shot anything yet. Despite how big of a star Pratt is, I doubt he could get the whole production delayed by throwing an actor fit. Plenty of Chrises out there to replace him with too.
