2018 Oscar Nominations
 

It's nearly time for the Oscars 2018 nominees to be announced, and you can watch it happen live. The Oscar nominations in all 24 categories will be announced in a two-part, live presentation tomorrow morning at 8:22e|5:22p. The announcement will combine live presentations from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, with pre-taped category introductions, which will only be featured in the first half of the announcement and you'll be able to watch it below.

At 5:22 a.m. PST, the nominees will be announced in the following categories (listed here in no particular order): Cinematography, Costume Design, Film Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Production Design, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects.

At 5:38:30 a.m. PST, the nominees will be announced in the following categories (listed here in no particular order): Actor in a Leading Role, Actor in a Supporting Role, Actress in a Leading Role, Actress in a Supporting Role, Animated Feature Film, Directing, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Foreign Language Film, Original Song, Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay and Original Screenplay.

No directing nomination for Three Billboards (I agree with this) makes me wonder how far it'll get.

He can take solace in knowing Oldman has it on lock.

Also :up: for Logan getting a screenplay nom and Baby Driver on editing.

And Netflix did pretty well, Mudbound got 4 noms, Icarus (doc) got 1 and Strong Island (doc) got 1 as well. Apparently Mudbound is the first time a female cinematographer has been nominated.

Not surprising since he didn't get a Golden Globe nod, but I'm disappointed Harry Dean Stanton didn't get nominated for Lucky. Dead or alive, I thought he deserved it.

I wonder if Get Out got the Best Picture genre nod over Blade Runner 2049. Maybe it was a combination of that and under performing at box office.

With Mad Max Fury Road getting a BPN I thought BR2049 could easily slide into that role this year.

McDonagh not getting nominated for director makes me think Shape of Water is now the favorite for BP. I've thought it was a two-horse race all along, I don't think any of the other films have enough momentum to win it.

Didn't expect Franco to miss out, even with the allegations. When did Casey Affleck's stuff come out? Seemed to be around Oscar time too, and it didn't affect him. Possible I'm misremembering it.

"Oscar-nominated The Boss Baby" is a phrase now.

At this point, nominating Streep every year is just getting embarrassing.
Is the Academy still using their “up to 10 BP nomination” rules? If so there would have been one open slot for BladeRunner 2049. :(
