And I'll be the first to say it here : Get Out is a Comedy? I mean, maybe it's a satire, but I never thought of it as a comedy -- I thought they fixed this after The Martian won.

i'm pissed Wind River didn't get anything, especially for Renner and The Big Sick not getting at least screenplay.

Christopher Plummer has to be the first film actor to get cast for a part, shoot a movie and receive a major award nomination for that performance within a two months window.

You have to hand it to Ridley Scott for completing everything he needed and getting 2 nominations in such a short period of time that he was able to show the film to the HFPA. They screened it last week and just kept the projectors running all day as press checked in.

At least The Martian had some funny parts. Can't say I laughed during Get Out.

Can't comment much on Wind River. It's not a huge success and every year lots of good performances in small low-budget pictures get overlooked.
As far as The Big Sick goes, chances are still good for an Oscar nomination in the Best Original Screenplay category (along with Jordan Peele for his laugh-riot Get Out). The Golden Globes nominate five movies, but the Oscars get ten nominees.

I thought the only category that gets up to 10 nominees at the Oscars was Best Picture. Don't all the other categories (Best Original Screenplay, etc) still just have 5 nominees or has something changed? I admit I don't pay attention that closely.

Yes, I'm assuming nothing has changed for the other categories.

Too bad about the Blade Runner 2049 snubs and for Dunkirk getting nominated. Also I want Kyle MacLachlan to win for actor for Twin Peaks and accept the award in character as Dougie.

I thought for sure Harry Dean Stanton would get a posthumous nomination for Lucky.

I suspect BR's only Oscar noms will come in things like Sound,Cinematography and Special Effects

I could see BR2049 getting a score nod. I wouldn't mind either because it is the only tolerable thing Zimmer has been involved with.

It will get plenty of recognition in the technical categories at the Oscars. Couldn't see it picking up any Golden Globe nominations except maybe for score. In any case there's nothing I would consider a "snub" here.

... and for Dunkirk getting nominated.
-rolleyes-

Speaking of which, how the hell did Twin Peaks not get nominated for Best Limited Series? It was one of the best things on TV and miles better than Fargo S3. I've never even heard of The Sinner.

Not everyone loved Twin Peaks. A lot of people think it was self-indulgent mess (myself included).

I guess he just wasn't Lucky enough to get their votes.

Shut up Jada!

That movie was awful.

Tiffany Haddish‘s breakout performance in Girls Trip was one of the more noticeable snubs of this year’s Golden Globes nominations — and her costar Jada Pinkett Smith has an issue with it. The actress claims that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which votes on the awards and organizes the ceremony, wouldn’t even screen the film for consideration.

“I’m not upset about @TiffanyHaddish or @GirlsTripMovie not getting a nom… I’m discouraged about the fact that the Hollywood Foreign Press/@goldenglobes wouldn’t even WATCH the movie,” she wrote on Tuesday. “Girls Trip was one of the most successful films this summer & Tiff was hands down the funniest person on screen in 2017 and we couldn’t get eyes on the film or a press conference. How could a nom happen & how much more critical acclaim must a movie have to simply get a screening?”
