I'm not into Pokemon but this looks fun, a bit like a modern 80s family flick (where everyone seemingly had their own creature, cartoon, monster, or flying dog.)

I'm not into Pokemon at all, but I have to admit it looks kind of cute. I have some familiarity with the characters. But, it's kind of weird hearing Pikachu speak with Deadpool's voice.

I love it. 2D cartoons and you would have had the Roger Rabbit effect and it would be hard to accept them as part of the world. Too photo-realistic and it would have been too creepy. This was the perfect compromise for the FX.

And it looks fun, we'll definitely be there.

It looks absolutely dreadful by the way. That good cop/bad cop scene had nothing funny in it. Nothing. And they picked it for the trailer?!? Writers these days seem to get away with the cadence sounding like comedy, but it isn’t inherently funny.

I was an adult without kids when Pokemon came out, so I never watched it or played any of the games, but like anyone with any level of geek cred, I have a basic understanding of the show and know a few character names. This looks like it could be fun, especially if they try to please kids while throwing in some things for the parents to chuckle at on the side.

Are there really going to be protests (online, I assume) over this? FFS, why?

Looks fun to me, and I don't care about Pokemon in the slightest. My kids are a few years out of playing the games a lot but they might still be up for it.

Not at all, but that's not the same as saying this movie isn't being "made for Americans". It's being "made for the world", as most popcorn films like this are these days.

At any rate, I showed my kids the trailer yesterday and they are definitely in for this, my daughter was going nuts naming all the Pokemon she saw in the trailer. And goddamn if I don't want to see this now as well.

Yeah, I'm fine with live action if that's the level of CG we'll be getting for humans.* Though with that new Detective Pikachu trailer, it really does show that some of those Pokemon designs are horrific looking when adding fur and such.
