I think it looks pretty good. Is this in theaters only or available on VOD? If it's in theaters only, I'll be waiting for the digital or physical release.

No, it's not a straight to streaming release. It's coming out theatrically in October.

I rather see an adaptation of The Big Four. Basically, The Big Four is Poirot vs an early 30's version of the Illuminatti, or a twisted version of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

I enjoyed MOTOE better than I thought I would, so I'll eventually see this.

That was how I felt as well after watching it and yet I was excited to see Death on the Nile at the end cliffhanger.

Hopefully this one steps it up a little but Iíll watch it either way.

It's not that MOTOE was bad, but it certainly pales in comparison to Knives Out.
Part of the issue with MOTOE was how little Johnny Depp was in it. Part was that the ending was already so well known. I remember who "done it" in Nile but imagine most people don't. That will help.
I wonder if they will address the fact that the murder happened while Poirot was still I'm the previous movie in this time line.

MOTOE was so terrible, this film is an easy "NOT GONNA WATCH".

I'm looking forward to this. I remember the series of Agatha Christie film adaptations of the '70s and early '80s ("Murder on the Orient Express", "Death on the Nile", "The Mirror Crack'd", and "Evil Under The Sun") and I think "Death on the Nile" was the best of the bunch. I hope this new version is successful enough that Kenneth Branagh keeps making more Agatha Christie movies because her mysteries seem like a good niche for him as a filmmaker.

In theaters February 11.

Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot’s Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. Set against an epic landscape of sweeping desert vistas and the majestic Giza pyramids, this dramatic tale of love gone wrong features a cosmopolitan group of impeccably dressed travelers and enough wicked twists and turns to leave audiences guessing until the final, shocking denouement.

Yeah that looks good. And probably the last time we will see Armie Hammer in a major motion picture.

He still has an unreleased Taika Waititi film already shot, but yeah probably. Certainly, it would be
Spoiler:
difficult to cut around his character in this one

I highly doubt you'll see a big red carpet premiere or Gadot and any of the actors doing PR for it. It's being dumped.

Re: Death on the Nile (2022, D: Branagh) -- news, rumors, etc.

Death on a Nile had been done for more than a year when the troubling allegations arose, leaving Disney in a tough position. The release of the movie, which was originally set to hit cinemas in 2020, had already been delayed because of COVID-19.

Disney considered several options when the accusations broke regarding Hammer (Call Me By Your Name, The Social Network).

Those options included reshooting the movie with a new star who could replace Hammer’s character, according to a source. In 2017, Ridley Scott — one of the producers of Death on the Nile — had reshot All the Money in the World after Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual assault, which he denied. Spacey was replaced by Christopher Plummer.

But that wasn’t feasible for a film of this scale, because of the pandemic and the ensemble cast. Gathering all the actors back together would have been near-to-impossible due to COVID. (Death on the Nile also stars Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo and Jennifer Saunders.)

Another option was to use digital technology to edit or alter the film, but that would have been equally as challenging considering the size of the cast and intricate storyline, according to an insider.

Ultimately, the studio decided to leave the film as is, and proceed with a full-fledged theatrical release. To shelve Death on the Nile, or sell it off to a streamer, would have been a disservice to the large cast and crew, a source says. Nor did Disney want to abandon the franchise built by 20th Century in partnership with the Christie estate. In 2017, Murder on the Orient Express, likewise directed by and starring Branagh, was a sleeper hit at the box office for 20th Century Fox, grossing nearly $353 million at the worldwide box office. (Disney inherited Death on the Nile and the rights to further films upon the Disney/Fox merger in 2019.)

The new trailer really focused heavily on Gadot. But you can't just pretend that Hammer doesn't exist.

Yeah it will be interesting to see how this does. I assume there will be no press junkets or big red carpet premiere. Shame because a big ensemble movie like this screams having one.

With the new variant hitting everywhere, that’s a more likely reason why they won’t. My guess is that Branagh edited the shit out of this to show Hammer the least amount as possible without recasting and filming those parts over again. But this does look pretty entertaining.

What's the deal with Armie Hammer?

Is it still that weird cannibalism kink he has, or did he do something else?

It's hard to keep track of these things.

And I don't think he really ate anybody, did he?

Highly doubtful. Editing costs money. Plus Hammer plays Gadot's husband and is a big part of the movie. Disney just has to ride it out with what was filmed.

Maybe I just missed most of it but I donít recall the Hammer stuff gaining that much traction with the general public. I heard a little about it here and there for a week or so and then it went away. Certainly not to the level of some of the other higher profile people in Hollywood.

Outside of some of the tabloid shows, I wonder how much general audiences are even going to know Hammer has been cancelled.

I had no idea of any of it until seeing stuff about it in this thread last week.

How the Hell does Tom Bateman have top billing in a cast like that? I've never heard of him.
