re: Sexual Harassment/Assault & Abuse in Hollywood -- Discussion
Before Hollywood existed, this guy was a celebrity in his own way. We've all heard of him when we in school. And now they're going after him for something that happened a very, very, very long time ago.
I think this move by the ALA is ridiculous. No matter what bad things he did in his personal life, it still doesn't negate the good things that he did in the field of library science.

Disney Removes ‘Toy Story 2’ Scene That Recalled Hollywood Casting Couch Abuse
https://www.indiewire.com/2019/07/di...te-1202155516/
Disney recently marked the opening of “Toy Story 4” by re-releasing the entire animated franchise on 4K, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD, but not every entry was the same as when the studio first released it. Deadline reports Disney quietly removed a scene from “Toy Story 2” for the new release. The scene in question occurred during the end credit bloopers and featured the character Stinky Pete (the villainous toy voiced by Kelsey Grammar) inside a toy box with two Barbie dolls. Stinky Pete grabs one of their hands and says he can help get them roles in the next “Toy Story” movie, only to discover he is being filmed. The character becomes flustered and escorts the Barbie dolls out of the box.
In the wake of the #MeToo and Time’s Up anti-harassment movement, it was impossible not to view the scene as problematic. Stinky Pete’s lecherous behavior brings to mind Hollywood’s casting couch abuse problem, in which young actors are forced to trade sexual favors for roles. IndieWire has reached out to Disney for further comment.

I know folks that went to the ALA in Washington D.C. last week. I'm gonna ask them their thoughts on that.

“He jokingly called me a ‘paint cat’ in reference to the ill-fated feline who tries desperately to escape the clutches of Pepe Le Pew,” Julie wrote in her statement.

Yeah, that short was revived and played in front of Finding Nemo, they made smaller boobs to make it kid friendly, the old short ran at short film festivals and stuff that typically had a more mature audience.
This Toy Story 2 thing is a joke that was deemed acceptable for a G rated movie in 1999, that now they’re having second thoughts about. Of course the real underlying reason is that the director, John Lasseter, was accused of all kinds of handsy behavior and had to leave the company. They’re trying to get the stink off. It’s a sad state of affairs. I’m always on the side of don’t alter the film.

But personally I'm all for erasing these fuckers from common knowledge. If the present can't be right, at least let history have the right moral compass

We should always strive for the most accurate records possible. We can always update them with relevant information like: John Ford invented the assembly line (and was a massive antisemite).
Furture generations will have more wisdom than us. Let's not assume they're so stupid we need to treat them like toddlers.

Um, let's not do that. What you're describing is straight out of 1984.

Andy Signor (Screen Junkies) was one of the first people accused in the #metoo movement, and now it looks like he was innocent. His accuser has some explaining to do.

He looks like he's lost some weight, but it still makes him look douchey for cheating on his wife.
