UPDATE: Rose has been fired by CBS.

They fired Charlie Rose.

“A short time ago we terminated Charlie Rose’s employment with CBS News, effective immediately. This followed the revelation yesterday of extremely disturbing and intolerable behavior said to have revolved around his PBS program,” said CBS News President David Rhodes in a memo to staffers issued Tuesday.

Wow. I’m sure PBS will either cancel his show soon afterwards or fire him and replace him with someone else. Likely the latter. Why should his PBS staffers lose their jobs for his stupidity?

Well, I sure hope EddieMoney never comes forward and talks about the sexual harassment I've given him. My time here would be over.

The author of the Washington Post article said since it was published, a dozen more women have contacted her.

10:41 AM -- PBS just dropped Rose. The network said it has "terminated its relationship with Charlie Rose and cancelled distribution of his programs."

Well, that answers that question. Guess his staffers need to look for new jobs.

Crap! Looks like my original (sealed) Buzz Lightyear figure with the yellow stripe is about to drop in value.

I assume Lasseter and Disney are hoping 6 months is enough time for most of this to "blow over" and that he'll be able to quietly return.

More great reporting from Ronan Farrow, this time on the nondisclosure agreements foisted on some of Weinstein's victims:

https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-...et-settlements

What astounds me is Bob Weinstein's blase reaction to his brother's request for a personal check to pay off two assistants threatening to blow the whistle on him. In what universe do you simply write such a huge check for the flimsy reasons offered here?

In one case, in the nineteen-nineties, Bob Weinstein, who co-founded the film studio Miramax with his brother, paid two hundred and fifty thousand pounds, roughly six hundred thousand dollars today, to be split between two female employees in England who accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and assault. The funds came from Bob Weinstein’s personal bank account—a move that helped conceal the payment from executives at Miramax and its parent company, Disney, as well as from Harvey Weinstein’s spouse.

In an interview, Bob Weinstein acknowledged the personal payout but said that his brother had misled him about the reasons behind it. “Regarding that payment, I only know what Harvey told me, and basically what he said was he was fooling around with two women and they were asking for money,” Bob Weinstein told me. “And he didn’t want his wife to find out, so he asked me if I could write a check, and so I did, but there was nothing to indicate any kind of sexual harassment.” A former senior Miramax executive said that it was implausible that Bob Weinstein did not know about the nature of the allegations, which were reported to the company.
Wouldn't you do a little due diligence before writing such a check? I.e. find out exactly what Harvey did and why the women had to be paid off?

Of course, the number one logical response to such a request would be: "No, Harvey, YOU handle it."

Is Ronan Farrow gonna hog all the stories on Weinstein, or will someone else on staff get a crack at him?

I dunno, they should be more image conscious than most, especially over the head of the animation division.

Last Night Letterman got a comedy award.
He might be the luckiest of all these people.
He got called out by someone and then he came right back and admitted all of it.

At least as far as we know.

I have to wonder how this would have turned out had that person not tried to blackmail him all those years ago.

Yeah, I forgot about Letterman.

But it's different now, even from just one year ago.

I wonder if Charlie Rose has any features shot and in the can for 60 minutes. I guess that will have to be scrapped.

I feel like this whole sexual harassment thing sort of began back in July in my world (Sports TV) when the President of FOX Sports was fired for sexual harassment.

https://www.si.com/tech-media/2017/0...ual-harassment

That was a pretty big deal and shocking for our industry.

I'm a little surprised that the sports world hasn't received more publicity like what's going on in Hollywood/TV etc.

Women in our industry have a really hard time gaining any sort of credibility. Most look at the women working in sports as basically being hired for their looks and not their actual knowledge in sports as a journalist. I mean there are plenty of good & credible ones like Soledad O'Brien from HBO or even Doris Burke with ESPN.

That's true, although in the entertainment industry people seem quick to forget (and sometimes forgive). I guess it depends if more salacious details come out.
