As reviled as he is right now, I don't really expect him to leave money on the table if he doesn't have a morality clause. Netflix has to cut ties with him, but sounds like they'll have to pay for that action.

I sort of hate to say this, but a lot of this stuff about 80s and 90s kids' shows being pedophile rape factories reminds me of the old "Satanic Panic" stuff that was going around three decades ago that turned out to be false. If you're old enough to remember the 80s, you'll probably remember the underground network of Satanists that were abducting, raping, and sacrificing thousands of children each year. And the heavy metal music, and Procter & Gamble...

Of course, the Vatican was revealedvto have been running an international pedophile ring, so it's not outside the reallm of possibility that Hollywood has been doing something similar.

I don't doubt that there was some sexual abuse going on, but most of this stuff coming out involves blind items, accusations against unnamed individuals, and a lot of speculation based on the previous two. At some point, someone is going to have to come forward and name names and supply whatever proof they can.

Those old controversies crossed my mind when reading this stuff, but considering Hollywood's long and storied history with unsavory characters doing abhorrent things while studio heads, agents, publicists and glossy magazines put a pleasant face on it all, I tend to think there are sizeable grains of truth buried none too deeply in a lot of these blind items -- albeit by necessity with a thick coating of mock hysteria and gossipy sarcasm -- simply by virtue of them not involving ridiculous supernatural rituals dreamt up by gawd-fearing hicks to "explain" things. Nowadays, undoubtedly thanks to the existence of the web, complex child porn/pedophile "rings" are brought down with regularity by international, multi-jurisdictional sting operations, proving the existence of "factories" in various senses of the word. And closed-door, hush-hush Hollywood would seemingly be an ideal incubator for such activities, especially in the pre-web era. I'm sure the whole notion of "factories" as its hinted at in the blinds is just so much hyperbole designed to nonetheless suggest the existence of organized networks. Considering the fact that certain "names" keep popping up repeatedly in association with these activities, the tales take on a ring of plausibility even without silly cries of supernatural meddling.

I use to love going to the Silent Movie Theater back in the early 90s. The seats were uncomfortable but it was a lot of fun. Wonder if "renovation" means they're going to gut it and turn it into something other than a theater. That building has been a movie theater since 1942, dammit.

They had remodeled it and installed new chairs and couches. Hell, a couple of years ago RDJ donated the six figures they needed to replace their projection system -- they were able to show everything from 8 mm to 4k. They had dedicated a week or two of RDJ films during that time.
