Wasn't McGowan homeless around this time in her life? That could explain the street corner part.

Well, it is out there that he is well-endowed, so Payne has that going for him.

re: Sexual Harassment/Assault & Abuse in Hollywood -- Discussion
There is probably a lot more to it but based solely on her tweets (I only saw the 2) she doesn’t say anything about being “picked up” she doesn’t say how she got to his home at all. I don’t know what exactly they were doing but a young director showing off his work to a teenager doesn’t sound too nefarious. Like I said, she seems to keep it really vague about him being well-endowed which could mean anything from he was wearing tight pants to he pulled his penis out and sexually assaulted her. But based on her tweet alone, I can’t determine one way or the other. Saying she was left on a street corner is fairly vague as well. We don’t know if he drove her home and she said “drop me off here” or if he sexually assaulted her and kicked her out as he skidded around a corner.
I haven’t followed her on Instagram. If there’s more details there, I haven’t seen them.
I’m not defending Payne. I’ve enjoyed a couple of his movies and found him overrated for everything else but based on what she wrote, I’m not seeing something that should ruin his career.

That's a problem.

It's basically a gradual manipulation by an adult where they slowly try to normalize the idea of having a sexual encounter with a minor, in the minors eyes. Showing them porn, giving them alcohol, having frank discussions about sexuality and sexual contact. Basically trying to ease them into a sexual encounter instead of using straight up force. Otherwise known as the Michael Jackson playbook.

Article from THR that provides background on alleged sexual misconduct and rape by the comedian James Veitch.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ne...n-james-veitch
He’s been dropped from a rep and an HBO special (cut out as it was already recorded). I’m curios if these companies actually look into matters or just drop people to get away from potential risk.

Is Alexander Payne going to get cancelled?
We had to know he is packing between the legs after she made those comments

Payne to McGowan: Nope, Sorry But We’re Cool
Two and a half weeks ago Rose McGowan tweeted about a sexual misconduct allegation episode (technically statutory rape) that happened, she said, between her 15-year-old self and director Alexander Payne, who was then in his late 20s.
McGowan was 15 between September ‘88 and September ‘89, so by her account the incident happened between 31 and 32 years ago.
I posted about the alleged encounter on 8.17 (“Payne Detour“).
This morning Payne posted a brief essay on Deadline that basically said “uhm, sorry, Rose, your memory is faulty…but no offense taken.” He’s saying they dated twice in ’91, but that was two or three years later, of course.
“Rose McGowan and I have always had very cordial interactions, and I have admired her commitment to activism and her voice in an important, historic movement. However, what she has said about me in recent social media posts is simply untrue.
“Rose is mistaken in saying we met when she was fifteen, in the late 1980s. I was a full-time film student at UCLA from 1984 until 1990, and I know that our paths never crossed.
“She claims that I showed her a ‘soft-core porn movie’ I had directed for Showtime ‘under a different name.’ This would have been impossible, since I had never directed anything professionally, lurid or otherwise. I have also never worked for Showtime or directed under any name other than my own.
“Rose and I did meet years later, in 1991, during my first directing job, when she auditioned for a comic short I was making for a Playboy Channel series. Although she did not get the part, she left a note for me at the casting desk asking that I call her. I had no reason to question how old she was, since the role she read for required an actor who was of age. We later went out on a couple of dates and remained on friendly terms for years.
“While I cannot allow false statements about events twenty-nine years ago to go uncorrected, I will continue to wish only the best for Rose.”
Here’s what I posted about the Playboy Channel series in questionand related McGowan matters:
McGowan was 15 between September ‘88 and September ‘89. The omnibus sex films that Payne contributed to were produced by the Playboy Channel. One is titled Inside Out (’91 — Payne’s short is titled My Secret Moments) and another is called Inside Out III (’92). The IMDB page for the latter names ten directors, including Payne and Bernard Rose. Payne apparently landed the gigs when he was 27 or 28 and enrolled at UCLA Film School.
“The 29-year-old Payne graduated from UCLA Film School with a Masters degree in May/June 1990.
“Did McGowan see Inside Out or did she see Payne’s The Passion of Martin, which has a sex scene or two? If it’s the latter, she couldn’t have seen much in the fall of ‘88 as Payne was only just beginning to work on it. Let’s presume that he showed her a rough cut of some kind, perhaps during the spring or summer of ‘89. Maybe.”

^ Interesting. I like McGowan and have nothing against her and I’m sure she isn’t purposely lying about her encounters but I’d imagine that trauma + time = inaccurate memories.
I just wish McGowan (and anyone else for that matter) would try to handle these things in private before splashing accusations all over social media on a whim.

Payne certainly provided the kind of specific details that go a long way towards radically altering McGowan's accusations against him.
Just from reading that it seems that McGowan's memory is likely faulty. She's confusing dates and events. I've done that myself - combined memories from two different events only to realize later after talking to someone else that I was completely wrong in what I remembered. It happens a lot when 20+ years pass.

I'm kind of torn.
McGowan's account of what happened doesn't seem to jive at all with the timeline and tidbits of information she presented, which makes me think she's confused him with someone else. But on the other hand, Alexander Payne deserves to be taken down for having me to sit through an excruciating 2+ hours of Downsizing.

How a Registered Sex Offender Thrived in Hollywood

Adam Kimmel is the cinematographer of such acclaimed films as “Beautiful Girls,” “Capote” and “Never Let Me Go.”
One thing you won’t glean from the list of Kimmel’s impressive credits on his IMDb page: He’s a registered sex offender. Kimmel was arrested and charged twice for sexual crimes against underage girls, once in 2003 and again in 2010.

Kimmel was convicted as a Level 1 sex offender, the lowest of three risk levels in New York state: “I was told that as a Level 1 registrant, my inclusion on the registry would not be made public,” he writes.
And so he acted accordingly

I certainly believe that after Kimmel was arrested again seven years later, he should have been shunned. That's exhibiting a pattern. It makes me wonder how many girls didn't come forward in the meantime.

If New York doesn't think that an offense is serious enough to publish someone on a sex offender list, should it still be a career-ending crime?
