Question : Has there been a change in the status of Steven King's adaptation rights or something? That seems like a heck of a lot of adaptations (11/22/63, It, Dark Tower, Mr Mercedes, Gerald's Game, 1922) in just a year or so.

Loved the novella. I don't have Netflix though.
I might have to pony up soon to catch a handful of things I'm missing out on.

There seems to always be a steady stream of King movies/tv, it's just that now they're mostly good and get people talking, vs the very hit-or-miss of the last couple decades.

Naw, he's just a reliable jumping off point and there are a lot of tv channels looking for content. 1922 and Heralds game for Netflix, 11.22 for Hulu, Mr. Mercedes for AT&T, The Mist for Spike, etc;

IT and Dark Tower were in production hell for ages, kind of surprised they wound up out at the same time.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1922_2017/

86% with 14 reviews (2 negative), apparently a bit of a "slow burn" or as one critic put it (in a positive review) "slow rot"

As long as it's well done, I don't mind a slow burn.

Nice -- for some reason I thought this was being released next week, but that's Stranger Things.

Was this the story where the kid runs off with some girl on a Bonnie and Clyde crime spree?

Oh, and Mike Patton did the score for this. I just finished it and liked it a lot. The cinematography and production design is fantastic. I have never read the story it's based on, but I reckon it reminds me of Tales from the Crypt episode -- a longer episode. With this and Gerald's Game, Netflix has a couple of winners.

Just finished also. I liked it more than Gerald’s Game. Very faithful to the novella, too.

Re: 1922 -- based on Stephen King novella -- S: Tom Jane, Neal McDonough, Molly Parke

Man, what a shit movie. Thomas Jane's accent was like nails on a chalkboard. I understand this was probably a low budget film, but the CGI snow and corn and everything else was a bit much. I've never read the novella but the narrative of this film really went nowhere and was cliche as fuck.

The only rewarding part of the film was the slow realization that it was filmed in my neck of the woods. I see Neal McDonagh at my theatre all the time and Molly Parker is a B.C actor who's in a ton of local films.

I don't know if the novella is any good, but this is the third Stephen King adaptation this year that was a real piece of shit.

Disagree. One of the best adaptations.
