In a superhero origin tale unlike any other, PROFESSOR MARSTON & THE WONDER WOMEN is the incredible true story of what inspired Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston to create the iconic Wonder Woman character in the 1940's. While Marston's feminist superhero was criticized by censors for her 'sexual perversity', he was keeping a secret that could have destroyed him. Marston’s muses for the Wonder Woman character were his wife Elizabeth Marston and their lover Olive Byrne, two empowered women who defied convention: working with Marston on human behavior research -- while building a hidden life with him that rivaled the greatest of superhero disguises.

Not credited as such... but yea, it's the same story.

Very intriguing story for those who are familiar with it, but it is going to be shocking to many! This looks good!

Odd question ... was it in the works before WW became a massive success?

"Hey this Wonder Woman broad has become popular with the female audience."

"We can't have that! Time to tell the story about the MAN behind her success."

It was shot in October of last year.

I thought there’d be a bit of discussion on this one.

Saw it the other day and thought it was really good.

The music in the first and very artsy fartsy sex scene was a little too on the nose but otherwise really interesting story.

I wonder if the mostly 70 something group who I saw this with new how much cursing and gay and s&m they where about to see.

Mrs Danger and the other woman snuggled with me while I sat between them on the sofa. They laughed at some different things than I did when the topic was male-female relationships. We liked that the bondage scenes included a lot of checking in, "Are you okay with this?" instead the usual movie "Kneel, slave!" claptrap.

My father was a professor and an intellectual snob. I thought the scene when the Marstons suddenly treated Olive differently when they learned that her family were famous intellectuals was dead-on.

We all liked the movie.

I enjoyed the movie, but was irresistibly reminded of this movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066327/

The romance, while non-traditional, followed the usual Hollywood patterns.

Every little detail explained.

"That's why children hang up stockings." "So, that's where the flying reindeer came from!" "Oh, that's why he lives at the North Pole."

It's there, it really is.

"Oh, look, that's where the lasso of truth came from!" "Aha, the source of the bracelets." Oh, so that's what inspired the costume."

Rented this from the library. Interesting movie. Curious about the historical accuracy.

Read the book. The Secret History of Wonder Woman. It's rather accurate -- I want to say that certain parts of William Gaine's involvement may have been exaggerated or enhanced for the movie portion. It's been a few months since I read the book and saw the movie.

It's a great book, though. The book also touches upon the artists that Marston worked with and how those guys were also part of the suffrage movement.

Funny that the library had the movie but not the book.
