The Commuter (Jan 2018, D: Jaume Collet-Serra) S: Neeson, Farmiga, Neill

Liam Neeson stars as a businessman who gets caught up in a criminal conspiracy during his daily commute home in this third cinematic pairing of Neeson and director Jaume Collet-Serra.

Neeson was interviewed at TIFF (regarding a different film) and apparently stated that he's retiring from action films after this and one more that's in the can, or will be soon. It was a good run, but one he admitted he fell into almost by mistake.

For a guy with a specific set of skills, he has a wide range of skills.

Liam Neeson changed his mind about retiring from action movies:

Quote:
When asked about the recent news that he was retiring from action movies, Neeson laughingly said, “It’s not true, look at me! You’re talking in the past tense. I’m going to be doing action movies until they bury me in the ground. I’m unretired.”

I hope this gets him back on track after a few questionable ones.

This maybe an unpopular opinion but frankly, aside from the first Taken they've ALL been questionable.

That's not to say I don't think he's a decent action star, he just need to pick something that doesn't fit the generic, Taken-ripoff mold he's been stuck in lately.

Saw the latest trailer for this today during football.

Might want to keep clear of it as it changes everything about what you might expect from this movie based of the first trailer.

The subplot is revealed and a half dozen other characters are revealed.

Yeah, I refuse to watch anymore trailers or marketing until I see it in theaters.

It was funny how FOX was promoting this like it was a new Star Wars movie and making a big deal out of a routine Liam Neeson action movie that will be released in January.

They should have done that for Non-Stop in 2014.

Sorry, I'm not impressed. Every time I ride the subway, I encounter someone "who doesn't belong on this train."

Looks so generic. Didn’t Steven Segal do this already, in the 90’s?! I don’t know why an actor such as Neeson chooses these scripts. And don’t say money. He’s fine. I don’t want him to go straight to video ala Bruce Willis hope Death Wish brings some of it back...

I saw the trailer a couple of days ago. It looks like a mash-up of Non-Stop, Unstoppable, and that Steven Segal.

He's worked with the director three times now, so it's just a matter of convenience. He likes to stay busy ever since his wife died.
