No. Nobody in my circles care about the Oscars.

Re: Anyone do an Oscar pool with friends, co-workers, or family?

I used to run the Oscar pools at my office, starting around the turn of the 21st century, but as they kept nominating films I cared less and less about, I turned the task over to the co-worker who seemed the most enthusiastic about it. I continued to participate, but only because I didn't want to look like a cheapskate by not contributing the $1 ballot fee, which would, of course, go to someone else's winnings. I don't recall ever winning. Since I retired, I haven't even thought about it--till Oldboy brought it up with this thread.

P.S. I've always worked in nonprofit media organizations, so I've always had co-workers interested in the Oscars. We used to do it at my first job after college which lasted through the early 1980s. Then when I shifted to a TV station in 1985, it was about 15 years before we had enough staff to make a viable Oscar pool that was worth doing.

Same, no one I know really cares that much.

Even with the expanded best picture lists, its still largely comprised of movies that people I know would never watch.

No, because I don't care about any awards shows of any kind.

I never have. I don't think enough coworkers care that much about movies. While I like movies, I don't care much about award shows because I like what I like and dont need people whom I have have never met or have nothing in common with telling me what I should like.

No never really cared all that much about them. I know what I like so I really don't care what the Oscar winner is.
