re: Female-Centric Lord of the Files

I know my opinion doesn't mean shit around here but I think this is a stupid idea. Why do they keep taking classic movies (or good movies that don't need to be fucked with) and remaking them with all different genders/ethnicities of characters? Or turning them into comedies? Or not coming up with their own damned movies? Brain rot?

re: Female-Centric Lord of the Files

I never really considered the '63 version of Lord of the Flies to be a "great movie" (and certainly not the '90 version) so I don't really get the arguing here. I get that the book was written about boys but there actually could be an interesting dynamic if they develop this one correctly. Odds of it being done well are low, but who knows.

Money. Plus they see the need to put out as much as possible these days, in 1980 there were about 120 domestic theatrically released movies , in 2016 there were 736. There's plenty of original stuff, but things that sold in the past are going to get recycled because it sold at one point, may as well try it again.

I loved the book and the original movie. Not going to watch this updated version.

I loved the book and the original movie.

I'll wait for a trailer before getting prematurely judgemental.

I will full support this, I will go see it, and I will award it my highest rating. Just so I avoid being called a misogynist.

Instead of a movie about boys gradually ratcheting up the threat of violence, it'll be about girls saying really mean things to each other.

I think the original story took place in the early 1950s and so much of the themes rely on that time-frame in history with the kids being proper, well-behaved English private school students that turn into savages.

Modernizing it to the 1990s removed that whole context and making them modern American kids, it separated it even further.

Making them modern girls with modern sensibilities, cellphones and social media savvy just isn't going to work unless they come up with completely new themes.

If they happen pull it off, it will have nothing in common with Lord of the Flies other than kids stranded on an island.

Re: Female-Centric Lord of the Files

Where's it say it'll take place in modern times with modern girls?

Re: Female-Centric Lord of the Files

If they do end up using high school girls, I'd bet that at least one of them will be pregnant.
