Jerry Lewis dead
Just saw the news: http://variety.com/2017/film/people-...202533899/amp/
Still remember that interview he gave earlier this year or late last year where he was a complete asshole. Made me laugh. |
Re: Jerry Lewis dead
Is he in anyone's dead pool?
|
Re: Jerry Lewis dead
Tough room. :rip: Jerry, thanks for making us laugh.

Re: Jerry Lewis dead
Lewis lived an amazingly long life considering the medical issues he had in recent years.

Re: Jerry Lewis dead
Sad news, but does this open up the chance of "The Day the Clown Cried" ever being released somehow?

This is the interview I was referencing in my original post: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jerry-l...wood-reporter/ makes me laugh every single time. |

supposedly, who ever has possession of it can release it after he's dead. so, maybe we'll find out soon.

He was mildly humorous in his Martin and Lewis days. Never really cared for him after that. He seemed to have turned into a real grumpy bastard in his later years. Has France declared a National day of Mourning yet? |
Re: Jerry Lewis dead
I found this a thoughtful and interesting take on Jerry Lewis and not just his contribution to comedy, but to filmmaking (the creating of the "video assist"):

Re: Jerry Lewis dead
Jerry Lewis a comedic legend.
:rip: |
Re: Jerry Lewis dead
Yeah, the first thing I thought of when I read he died is that we'll finally get to see "The Day the Clown Cried."
And the fact that every kid of a certain age who owned a guitar was saddened to find out that there was already a band called Jerry's Kids. |
Re: Jerry Lewis dead
I bet he had some stipulation in his will about the movie.

Re: Jerry Lewis dead
He was great in King of Comedy. They needed an asshole for the part and they got one.

Day the Clown Cried will be coming soon. Sometime between now and 2025. |

Re: Jerry Lewis dead
^ I just watched that interview, and I found it to be pretty amusing as well. Think of how many interviews Jerry Lewis has done in his life, and how many times he has answered the same banal questions. Add to that an interviewer that was woefully unprepared (horrible questions), with a weak interviewing style, and you could just see Lewis thinking, "Say as little as possible and this idiot will exhaust his questions in a couple minutes and I can get back to doing something I want to be doing."

From what I gathered from the article, Lewis was in a foul mood before the interview even started. If he didn't want to do it, he shouldn't have agreed to it. Lewis isn't the only one to go through uninteresting interviews. Most just make the best of it and plow through.

It was worse than Billy Bob Thornton's interview with Jian Ghomeshi. At least that one was funny, in hindsight, as it turns out Ghomeshi is a dick.
Also I don't think the interviewer was unprepared for the interview. I think he was unprepared for Lewis to basically answer as yes or no. He tried to salvage the situation, but there wasn't much he could do. |
