Fuck that's a tough one, love both of those films. Both have solid direction but I have to give the edge to the writing, so it's No Country for Old Men for the win.

Sicario. I did not care for No Country For Old Men nearly as much as most others seemed to.

Two fantastic films! Sicario is great but No Country for Old Men is a masterpiece!

Yup, and NCFOM is IMO the Coen Brothers best film.

Re: No Country For Old Men vs Sicario

That is a tough one, but I'll go with NCFOM also based upon more memorable characters and scenes. I'll never look at nail guns/bolt guns the same way. Both really fine films.

Probably will catch heat for mentioning this, but I'd say that Hell or High Water can be mentioned in the rear view mirror of both films in this poll. Same with One False Move.

Maybe that could be a future poll: Sling Blade or Hell or High Water?

Where is the choice for "both are overly long and entirely overrated"?

If I had to pick, I'd pick Old Men if only for the gas station scene.

I don't feel either of these are classics, but I'd gladly watch Sicario before I'd ever watch NCFOM again.

Re: No Country For Old Men vs Sicario

Loved them both but it's no contest.

NCfOM has more depth in the story and the characters, and the actors themselves went above and beyond.

Two different classes of film. One's a classic, the other is merely brilliant.

Agree, other then -maybe- the locale? I don't get the comp. Anyway, NCFOM is in my top 10. Sicario, although good, is not in my top 50.

No Country might be the better movie, it won the Oscar after all But Sicario has better replay value. I'll give the nod to Sicario.

Re: No Country For Old Men vs Sicario

This is a tough one as i love both movies. They are both beautifully filmed and are riveting from start to end. After reading this yesterday i went and watched sections of No Country and it really is an outstanding movie. I think in my case it would have to be how i felt on any given day. One day i would prefer No Country, the next day Sicario. Both superb movies. Today i went with Sicario simply because i remember seeing it in the theater and the experience was amazing. The whole scene of crossing the border and the return was nail biting.

Coincidentally, they both share Josh Brolin.
