I don't know why they don't show Kidman's full face in color. It's either to put focus on her voice work, which is pretty good, or it's because she looks nothing like Lucy (or looks too old - - Bardem sure does).

I wouldn’t have minded getting an actor that looks at least a little bit like Lucy.
She didn’t sound like her either.
Oh well,I guess that stuff doesn’t matter.

I’m a huge fan of Sorkin. Otherwise, this movie wouldn’t interest me at all. The trailer hasn’t changed my mind about that.

I'll watch it, but frankly I've already gotten enough of this material from interviews and Lucy/Desi biographies over the years. Watching them be miserable and fighting with each other sounds like a real downer.
They should do a movie about Lucille Ball saving the original Star Trek! All these biopics are full of fictional bullshit anyways, so let's have her being real hands-on with the production, interacting with Shatner and Roddenbury, supervising the filming of the pilot... That would be fun.

the drama chronicles a tumultuous five days in September 1952 as the cast and crew ready an episode, "Fred and Ethel Fight," about Lucy's efforts to reunite the Mertzes when they look headed for a split. In the midst of production, Ball and Arnaz deal with three major crises off screen, including Ball's investigation by the House of Un-American Activities Committee for ties to Communism and Arnaz's cover story spread in tabloid Confidential titled "Desi's Wild Night Out."

didn't even know this was a thing until shortly before seeing it. It was pretty good although overly fictionalized
, but some of that is to be expected in these kinds of movies

I enjoyed the hell out of this. At first the dialogue was a little too rapid fire but it slowed down after that.
Really interesting movie with good performances across the board. I liked Shawakat as the female writer a lot in this.
I thought Kidman was solid as Lucy and Bardem was good, but it was hard to understand what he was saying with certain lines.
This was a nice treat on Prime.

It was solid for Kidman all around, I'm so used to her basically playing whispy porcelain dolls that it caught me off guard seeing her play someone brassy again.

Saw this last night and it was unremarkable. I thought Kidman looked great and nailed it in the scenes where her hair is up in the classic look. She did look weird for the first hour or so -- mainly in the chin. Bardem was fine. It's just an overly dense film. Sorkin needs to get better directors for his scripts instead of doing it himself.

Saw it, price was right on Prime. Good to see and pass time for some more background and details on a show I watched episodes of in syndication while growing up but wasn't a die hard fan.

I was pretty entertained throughout. Not a great film but Kidman was very good. And I need more JK Simmons paired with Sorkin dialogue. That is a perfect match.
Having a hard time believing that Lucy had to fight a Communist allegation, discovered Desi’s infidelity and told the network that she would be pregnant on the show all the same week, but if so, that would make for a hell of a week. Loved the portrayal of Lucille Ball behind the scenes. Some good stuff there. And Linda Lavin as an older version of Alia Shankar? That was beyond inspired casting.
