Damn, if I don't love this guy. Whenever he is on screen. From Screamers to Leviathan to of course RopoCop. The new Star Trek 2. Fucking Buckaroo Banzai! He just exudes suaveness and coolness. Gruff, a man's actor. While I didn't like Naked Lunch, I could see what it was trying to do. The man is just great!

I was just reading about him the other day. I think it started with the Robocop documentary trailer.

He was really in-touch with those sci-fi movies of the 80's and 90's. He knew how to ground those roles like nobody else could.

Not a big fan but he has done a couple of films that I like.

Most notable for me are Naked Lunch, Robocop and Shoot the Moon.

Just watched Naked Lunch again last night. He is great in everything he is in. He was also the only decent thing about Star Trek Into Darkness.

I'm hoping Shout Select (or someone somewhere) releases Shakedown. He starred in that one along with Sam Elliott. It was a fun late 80's flick.

I've really not seen much that he's in. I only recall the Robocop films and his run as a bad guy on "24". But I enjoyed both of those roles, so I'm here to say I appreciate him.

Indeed, an actor and director that seems to invest himself in his work. First noticed him in 3 movies on cable in the early 80s: Of Unknown Origin, First Born, and Buckaroo Banzai of course.

RoboCop was awesome, Buckaroo Bonzai was pure insanity, 24 I kind of remember his part, and he's an expert on Roman history. What's not to like?

Everyone was kind of /meh/ in that movie. It's a decent enough Alien knock-off, but everyone in it came off like Bill Cosby had slipped ludes into their <s>coffee</s> vodka...

Weller hosted an excellent History Channel series called Engineering An Empire back in the mid-00's, which is available on DVD. Most of the episodes appear to be on YouTube as well. At the time, and with his credentials, I assumed we'd see him doing more stuff like that, but I guess it didn't come to pass. Those directing gigs are probably a bit more lucrative. :)

Not a movie, but he had a good guest part on Star Trek: Enterprise ("Demons"/"Terra Prime") as the self-righteous John Frederick Paxton as a xenophobic human bent on preventing the assembly of The Federation.

Adam West starred with him in The New Age. Director Michael Tolkin made a joke at a screening that Batman was Robocop's father.
