Favorite guilty pleasure film franchise?

We're talking series of movies. They might not be the greatest, but we some how find comfort in them and thus a guilty pleasure series...

Mine:
The Saw series. Sure they are not great movies and seem repetitive, but I've liked the cheese and craziness and twists. Something about them and how they tie unbelievably together. And I mean unbelievable not as in a good way. But, insane no way in hell plausible connection way. I did dislike 2, bc it deviated so far from what 1 was all about. The others came back to formula. I may dislike this new one, but I probably will see it in theaters. I saw a few but not all in theaters. Especially if I get movie money somehow. Is this in 3D?

Gotta go Fast and Furious franchise. At least part 5 and on...

They are completely unbelievable and over-the-top ridiculous but damn if I don't have a great time watching them. It's amazing to me that 8 movies in the series is only getting better (I give part 7 a pass due to the changes made after Paul Walker's death)

Horror movies are great for this kind of topic. So many bad ones that are fun to watch. The Friday the 13th films, the Nightmare on Elm Street films, the Child's Play films. Not saying that they don't have some good entries but I think it's pretty well accepted that most of them got progressively worse as more sequels were made. The Fast and the Furious is a good one too. They're ridiculous but a lot of fun. Also Robocop. The first is clearly the best but I like both sequels and even the remake. Also like all the Jaws films despite the first being the best.

Yeah I was going to go that route, but we have those threads and wanted to include all. I could say Friday the 13th easily...

Saw for me. I really admire that they went through the trouble to establish a continuity, even though at times it doesn't make a whole lot of sense!

"Saw" for me as well. Back before streaming became the norm, I always rented the latest Saw film and watched the movie, then the movie with commentary, and then the bonus features all in 1-2 days.

Loved all the tie-ins between the films and easter eggs.

Friday the 13th for me, I'll never tire of watching those camp counselors get killed off one by one.

Re: Favorite guilty pleasure film franchise?

My guilty pleasure franchises belong to Fast & the Furious and Final Destination.

Oddly enough, 2 & 5 from both series are my favorites with #1 coming in third for both series.

Also 3 & 4 from both series are my least favorites. #3 being the lowest point of both franchises.

If I ever decided to sit through another Saw movie, I'd go with 2. I liked that more than the others. The first three were actually pretty solid. Then 4 kinda setup this ridiculous rube goldberg setup that pre-dated the first film and I ended up bailing after 5.

Resident Evil is trashy fun, though they got less and less memorable.

The new I Spit on Your Grave series is well done, but I wouldn't call it comforting.

Re: Favorite guilty pleasure film franchise?

The Bring It On series is a major guilty pleasure of mine, I wish a new one would come out soon.

Edited to add: Ask and ye shall receive, I just checked Amazon and a new entry in the series comes out on Blu August 29th...woo hoo! Can't wait. So...even if it is horrible bad I pre ordered, it comes with a digital HD copy, and was 45% off, I do love this series. My B-Day is on Sep 09, so an early present for me.

Re: Favorite guilty pleasure film franchise?

Horror films are an easy answer for this one. And I'd put the F13th and Halloween films at the top of a list of personal guilty pleasures.

Re: Favorite guilty pleasure film franchise?

Jeez, I'm having a hard time with this one.

I liked the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but haven't seen any of the rest. I liked the first Transformers movie, but I haven't seen any of the rest of those, either.

I don't feel at all guilty about enjoying the Godzilla or Gamera movies, and I can't think of another movie series that would qualify as a, "Guilty pleasure." Huh. Maybe one will come to me as this thread goes along.

Another vote for the F&F franchise. I shouldn't like those movies, but they're so much fun.

The "Death Wish" flicks are pretty much the same, but I love 'em all. Especially the showdown in in Part 3.

The Rocky franchise... I know 1 & 2 are excellent but the rest are suspect - critically - but I enjoy the hell out of them... especially Rocky IV.

Saw and the Fast and the Furious franchise

I know many here don't like the grotesque violence of movies like Saw, but I've always enjoyed that it was a serialized horror franchise and many story elements are used to connect the movies like a puzzle.
