With this moving to October, I agree with this guy that something is going to move

You can't release 3 big DC tentpole movies in 3 consecutive months.

I would probably move Flash. BP2 opens a week after on Nov 11.

Re: Black Adam (2022, D: Collet-Serra) -- S: Dwayne Johnson

He's literally bitching and whining about how they used a fictional country (long established in the DCU) called "Kahndaq" but they really meant it to be Egypt and it's COMPLETELY HISTORICALLY INACCURATE to ancient Egypt.

A fictional country. One that's not Egypt.

I hope that this is this yutz's biggest problem in life. Blubbering about the historical inaccuracy of fictitious countries in comic book movies.

I read that a while ago and was wondering what the hell he was talking about.

Re: Black Adam (2022, D: Collet-Serra) -- S: Dwayne Johnson

There is a report going around that Black Adam is going back to Atlanta for some reshoots

https://comicbook.com/dc/news/dwayne...reshoots-soon/

Considering this was pushed back to Fall, it sounds like these reshoots were last minute unlike the planned reshoots that the MCU normally does.

Maybe to tie it closer to Shazam since that's the next one in line?

Looks okay but I have no history with this character so I donít know if itís following the comics or has the right tone.

Re: Black Adam (2022, D: Collet-Serra) -- S: Dwayne Johnson

I haven't followed this movie at all and had no idea the JSA was part of it. That makes me way more interested.

One thing I will say though is I still have yet to see Johnson really tap into his wrestling charisma on the big screen, and nothing in this trailer suggests he has here. I don't get it. He can come out on RAW with no script and have 20,000 people eating out of his hands, but in these action movies he just comes off as a big, muscley try-hard. Black Adam, the character, feels like a good match for The Rock, the character, so hopefully it comes through a little better in the actual movie.

I donít think it has the right tone at all. The thing with Black Adam is that heís a dictator and a villain and a ruler, kind like Doctor Doom. Heís fair to his people but hates the outside world. The only reason heís sided with the heroes is out of necessity and to protect his kingdom.

It feels that in the Rockís film they are trying to make him a misunderstood person whoís suffered by being a slave and losing his child (neither of these things are from the comics).

The Rock looks the part but I fear he has too much control over the project that it is not executed well

The Rock is his best in wrestling when heís an arrogant ass. Black Adam should be that, but for some reason his origin in this movie is holding that back

Re: Black Adam (2022, D: Collet-Serra) -- S: Dwayne Johnson

I liked the trailer enough. I'm a little more excited for Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, but Black Adam is one of DC's most compelling anti-heroes/villains, depending on your point of view. Seeing him alongside the JSA (and Hawkman, who looks fully Thanagarian here) has got me super excited.

Re: Black Adam (2022, D: Collet-Serra) -- S: Dwayne Johnson

As long as Sobek makes an appearance I’ll be happy. I wish they would embrace the wacky side of the old Fawcett comics. The fact that they made Tawny a stuffed animal was kind of a bummer.

I’m really confused by the whole tone of the trailer. Does this exist in the old DCEU? How can Black Adam exist in a universe with the JSA but no SHAZAM (Cap Marvel)?

I sense (at least from the trailer) they're trying to give it a real Black Panther tone. That’s a mistake- that’s like making Killmonger the hero of that movie. As people said, Black Adam is a tyrant and only sides with heroes out of expediency, and nothing else.

Gotham is the Grim, Haunted city. Metropolis is the Hopeful, Futuristic city. Fawcett should be the Zany, Anything-Can-Happen city (giant monsters, mad scientists, rampaging robots, magical incursions, etc.). The OG Captain Marvel fits in there just fine. The modern Shazam... they send him to Philly. Figures.

My bet is that he decides to turn against the JSA in the third act and decides to take direct control of Khandaq. It should also be noted that in the New 52, Adam was a slave. The 52 weekly series also had him a little softer because of his relationships with Isis and Osiris, so I think they're pulling from that iteration (also helpful that that series was a huge boon for Black Adam's popularity).

Re: Black Adam (2022, D: Collet-Serra) -- S: Dwayne Johnson

Since I am not well versed on Black Adam I will be going into this film like I did with Shazam just looking to be entertained. The trailer works for me, and you just know the dude and lady in the truck will become his friends or whatever, since Black Adam will have appreciated that they tried to warn him of an impending attack.

I have given up on caring if D.C. films have a connection to each other that makes any type of logical sense. It will just be fun to see Hawkman, etc., on the big screen. Also, forgot that Pierce Brosnan is in the film, and it is always cool when Brosnan is in a film.

I'm not well versed or educated of Black Adam's story or his background. Other than he's an apparent adversary to Shazam. But, that trailer looks good and the Rock looks good. So I don't have much else to say other than yeah I'll be seeing it in 4 months.

Re: Black Adam (2022, D: Collet-Serra) -- S: Dwayne Johnson

Iím not overly familiar with Black Adam either. Trailer looks okay to me. Iím kind of at the point where Iím over The Rock in films though honestly. He always seems like heís kind of playing the same generic action role. I like him as a personality but his acting Iím kind of meh on.
