Kind of under the radar... mentioned last year going into production as "No Exit".

I don't think this one will have a happy ending and am surprised Kosinski is directing it since he comes from science fiction. I wonder if it's part of a pay to play deal? Direct this and then get carte blanche on a personal project. IDK

It's an acquisition for Sony, so not sure how that kind of deal would work for Kosinski.

Comes out this week. Reviews are pretty strong: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/only_the_brave_2017

That is pretty surprising to me.

Also, what is with these trailers? Three different trailers for this and it has been marketed a different way in each.

Judging by the trailers, this is two hours of platitudes, speeches, and on the nose visuals. The fire is literally a bear. Wow.

I saw a trailer for this and Horse Soldiers back-to-back before Blade Runner, and both look like they could be decent but somehow they picked the cheesiest, most poorly delivered and forced lines of dialogue they could find and highlighted them in the trailers.

Re: Only The Brave (2017) D: Kosinski S: Brolin, Teller, Kitsch, Bridges

Saw it yesterday, and thought it was really well done. I'm a bit biased as Brolin and Bridges are two of my favorite actors and they felt real to me in this role. Brolin is just such a natural on the screen. The movie delivered what I wanted from this type of genre. To go into their world and get a sense of their experiences. The radio traffic, fire sequences, planning and strategies employed by the hotshots all had an impressive level of detail and authenticity.

I went into this movie expecting a cookie cutter tear-jerker ending, but I didn't feel like it was forced on me and really moved me.

Saw this opening weekend, and it was very well done.

Watched the blu-ray release of this last night and enjoyed it. I spent a lot of time in the mountains, and I've always been fascinated by wildland firefighting, so I had been looking forward to it.

Netflix's "Fire Chasers" docu-series is a good follow up to watch after this movie.

Came out this week. It should have got an Oscar nod, IMO. Unfortunately, the movie came out the same time as Thank You for Your Service, and both films probably hurt each other with heroic true life fatigue for movie goers.

I expect Clint Eastwood's The 15:17 to Paris will also be a box office dud for similiar reasons.

Thought this was great. Emotional but not manipulative. Knowing it is a true story gave it that much more gravitas.

Man, great movie but tough to watch, especially the last 15 minutes, certainly gives an appreciation for firefighters. Excellent performances all around, yes even Miles Teller.

The marketing really failed this one. The film was well done. Some dumb cliched stuff here and there, but overall really good.

And Jennifer Connelly

Watched this one last night cause I found when looking up Jeff Bridges filmography.

Damn this movie was one of the most emotional films I've seen in many years. I'm not a man to cry, but this one definitely had the tears a flowing.

It's unfortunate to see how under the radar it apparently was.
