Disney Sheep!!!

The basic rules:

Intro for first time players
Spoiler:
(Reverse) Sheep is a game that is part Family Feud, part trivia game. The object of the game is to outwit other players through a series of questions that are usually united in theme. There are two types of questions.

The first, Sheep, is one where you try to think like everyone else and match their answers. The more people you match, the better you do. Let's say we have a game of six players (A through F). A Sheep question might be something like "Name a great color." Sheep questions never have right or wrong answers. Let's say our five players answered like this:

Players A, C, and E said "Blue"
Players B and D said "Green"
Player F said "Chartreuse"

Scoring in Sheep games is like golf: the lower your score, the better. The "Blue" players get -3 points (and the best answer). The "Green" players get -2 points. Player F did not match anyone and gets 0 points.

The second type of question, Reverse Sheep, is the exact opposite. You want to avoid matching other players. A Reverse Sheep question might be something like "Name a state on the Atlantic Coast." Reverse Sheep questions always have right or wrong answers. Let's say our players answered like this:

Players D and E said "Delaware"
Players F and B said "Maine"
Player C said "Texas"
Player A said "South Carolina"

The "Delaware" players get +2 points (a penalty, since you want to have a low score). The "Maine" players also get +2 points. Player C's answer might be debated among the players to see if it is considered correct or not. Wrong answers always score above the most common answer. You're always better off going for something obvious than for something obviously wrong.

That's the gist of it. Each person running a game adds little rules here and there but those are the basics.

General Rules
Spoiler:
The object of the game is to out-think everyone by picking answers to questions that are the most common (<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">Sheep</FONT>) or least common (<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</FONT>), but still correct.
Example <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">Sheep</FONT> question: "Name a professional golfer." A good answer might be Tiger Woods and a bad answer might be Chichi Rodriguez.
Example <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</FONT> question: "Name a play by Shakespeare." Romeo & Juliet might be a bad answer, but Two Gentlemen of Verona might be a good answer. (Unless everyone is trying to go as obscure as possible).
Scores are tallied according to the number of players answering that question. Sheep answers are tallied as negative. Reverse Sheep answers are tallied as positive. The lowest score wins.
There is no such thing as wrong answer for a Sheep question.
Wrong answers in Reverse Sheep are scored two points above the most common answer.
You may not cheat by using Google, Wikipedia, etc. Use only what's in your head.
Please send in your answers to me via PM. Place only one answer per line, without numbers, set info, or the question itself. Add {sd} to the end of the answer, not the beginning. Those who do not do this will be penalized 10 points right off the bat.
Note: Be creative with your answers, but don't be stupid.
Sheep questions are marked by an <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</FONT>, Reverse Sheep questions are marked by an <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</FONT>.

Game-Specific Rules

Unique Bonus: Reverse Sheep questions will generate additional bonus (negative) points according to the following:
1 Unique is awarded -20
2 Uniques are awarded -15 each
3 Uniques are awarded -10 each
4+ Uniques are awarded -5 each

Slam Dunks {sd} Players have the power of multipliers in their hands. Each player is given five (5) Slam Dunks ({sd}) which they use by adding {sd} to the end of their answer. Your Slam Dunks have different effects depending on the question you use it on:
In <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">Sheep</FONT> questions, the {sd} adds 1 to the Multiplier.
In <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</FONT> questions, you can use your {sd} to turn the question into a sheep question for you. However, if your answer is wrong, it does nothing.
Slam dunks cannot be stacked. Use one per question only or else they will be discarded. You cannot use two slam dunks to turn a Reverse into a Sheep and then slam dunk those sheep answers.

For this game, I consider "Disney" movies to be those released under the "Walt Disney Pictures" banner. Walt Disney Studios has other production companies as subsidiaries, such as Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Pixar, Touchstone. But movies from those companies can be the subject of their own games (and we've had several). #3 is the only reverse question that asks for a movie (and Pixar movies will be scored as incorrect answers). For the sheep questions, there are no wrong answers (and no point penalty for not answering what I was looking for). Though give answers that don't seem very Disney-like at your own risk :D

Please send in your answers to me via PM. Place only one answer per line, without numbers or the question itself. Do not forget your {sd}, and please place it after your answer (not before).

The Questions
<ol>
<li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> In 1937 Walt Disney created the first full-length animated motion picture, and to date there have been a total of 56 Walt Disney Animation Studio features. Which one is your favorite?

<li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</font> Name a Walt Disney Animation Studio movie nominated for a Best Animated Feature Academy Award. [Note: Pixar movies will be scored as incorrect answers.]
<li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> In 1946, Disney branched out and produced his first live-action feature. What is your favorite live-action Disney feature?
<li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> Name a Disney film that combines animation with live action.

<li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</font> Name a city that is currently home to a Disney theme park. [Scoring will be lenient for this question. Cities generally thought of as being the "home" to a park will be scored as correct, even if the park itself is technically located in a nearby lesser-known city. And all correct answers for a particular park location will be grouped together for scoring purposes.]
<li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> While Disney movies are typically appropriate for children, there can be some tough moments. Name a scene from a Disney movie that could be emotionally traumatic for youngsters.
<li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> Disney is currently remaking some of their animated classics as live-action features. Which animated movie, that hasn’t already been remade or has had a remake officially announced, would you like to see done as a live-action feature next?

<li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> What is the best ride at any of the Disney theme parks? [You don't need to specify the park. Rides with the same name at different parks will be matched together.]
<li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> Earlier this year, two new rides based on Avatar opened in the Animal Kingdom theme park. What movie would you like to see turned into a ride at a Disney theme park (that isn't already one)?

I plan on leaving this open at least until the weekend. Hopefully we can get at least 20 players. I tried to make the questions so that you didn't need very specific knowledge to come up with answers.

Important game-specific clarification question : Are Pixar films "Disney Films"? What about Touchstone?

Thanks ... I knew I forgot something in the rules. For #3, I only want Walt Disney Animation Studio movies (not Pixar).

For the sheep questions, there are no wrong answers. But I'd really like this game to not be about other brands that Disney currently owns (like Marvel EU, Pixar, Star Wars). Instead being about what people think of as "Disney" movies (which are typically released under the "Walt Disney Pictures" banner). Though I intentionally worded #15 a little broader (since there are already rides/attractions at Disney parks that aren't based on strictly "Disney" movies).

I edited the announcement post to hopefully makes things clearer.

Submitted. Struggled with the Disneyland questions since I don't know shit about the park.

Sent in my answers. Very anxious to see how the group goes with some of these. I really had no idea on the sheepy answer for most of these. More-so than usual.

Thanks brainee for putting it together.

Did you edit question 15? I think it read significantly different before

I did edit it to try to make it clearer and read better (and I made it just about movies ... which I hope will make it easier for players to match). Though it's still essentially the same question. Now that answers are starting to trickle in, I won't make any more edits to the announcement post.

I hope I didn't make my addendum to #10 too confusing. My intent was for that to be a straight-forward question. But digging into things online it came to me that it could get tricky (and that wasn't my intent).

Decker 07-18-17 11:51 AM

Re: Disney (Reverse) SHEEP Game: When You Wish Upon a SHEEP

The difference is that question 15 used to be about Disney properties and now it uses an example of a non-Disney property. That's a pretty big difference.

Re: Disney (Reverse) SHEEP Game: When You Wish Upon a SHEEP

I don't have the original question in front of me, but I don't think there was any reference in the original question about Disney properties. That might have been in your head, but I don't think it was there, I remember thinking that as I read it the first time. Now it simply names a non-Disney property that is already being built within the park to put that idea in your head.

I'm waiting on clarification for question 13. Does it specifically have to have 'land' in the ansnwer because there are sections in both DLR and WDW that are not lands but are integral to the overall park.

Also, on 18, the characters that appear in animated cartoon shorts and not just wear cartoon shorts, correct? ;)

This is how the question was originally: "Name a movie or television show that isn’t the basis for a Disney theme park ride or attraction … but you wish was."

I didn't say "name a Disney movie or television show" since the new Avatar attractions were the inspiration for the question, and there are numerous rides and attractions based on movies that aren't strictly "Disney". I reworded it to better suit the question as I intended (answers could certainly be Disney movies ... but they don't have to be).

All of those themed regions in the parks will be considered correct answers (and you're right ... not all of them have "land" in the name). If anyone who submitted answers didn't understand that, and you wish to change the answer, you can do so.

for 13, does the "land" have to be a current existing land or could it be something from the past?
Just to be sure, you do not consider Disney California Adventure part of Disneyland for this question?

Current lands (not those that no longer exist or are only in the planning stages now). If the same land just underwent a name change, those answers will be grouped together.

No, California Adventure is a different theme park (and answers from it will be considered incorrect).

Not until next week. Right now, I have answers from 10 people:

Crocker Jarmen
Palaver
wishbone
Mr. Flix
devilshalo
RoboDad
mwbmis
GhostLee
AaronHernandez
A-aron

A few more have posted in this thread, so hopefully they're working on answers. And we're missing a few other sheep game regulars. I submitted my own emergency answers to Crocker in case we don't get to 20. I didn't play slams, so there would be no way I would win my own game ... unless your answers are really really bad :D

Submissions are open at least until the weekend, so there's time for more.
