Transformers: The Last Knight (2017, D: Bay, S: Wahlberg) -- The Reviews Thread

Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth.

Starring:

Mark Wahlberg

Anthony Hopkins

Josh Duhamel

Running Time:

149 Minutes

Budget:

$260M (estimated)

Parts 6 and 7 are being written. There are multiple sequels/prequels in development, including the Bumblebee movie. The series isn't dying anytime soon.

I figured since this opens tomorrow and is a pretty huge Summer movie for Paramount, might as well do it. I know Oldboy won't do it. I know most of the USC and NYU Film scholars at DVD Talk probably won't see it. or will just say what a shitty and stupid series this is.

I'll probably see this on Saturday. Can't wait for 149 minutes of destruction porn and pure bliss.

I've seen every movie of this series in theaters, a few in IMAX and 3D, why stop now?

Review embargo lifts tonight at 7pm. Always a sure sign of studio confidence.

Also, I worked on this for one day and Turturro delivers some lines about "goat scrotums" while in Cuba. So, you know, expect the usual dialogue.

There's no way it makes that money back in the States. Domestic box office nowadays is just not strong enough to recoup a massive budget like that. There's just too many entertainment options. AoE only grossed $245M 3 years ago domestic. Most of it's profit was from international.

I think this will be like The Fate of the Furious and the new Pirates movie. 80-90% of it's profit will be from overseas.

Hmmm. Forgot about this. Maybe an early Friday matinee. Maybe. And I liked AoE quite a bit.

I see three immobile black screens in this thread so far. Is there a trailer embargo as well?

Or is something wrong with my computer?

Definitely something wrong with your computer and or browser. You posted in a different thread that you also couldn't see a YouTube trailer I posted.

I see all the embeded videos just fine.

Re: Transformers: The Last Knight (2017, D: Bay, S: Wahlberg) -- The Reviews Thread

I'm a Michael Bay apologist and enjoyed the first and third Transformers movies but after the last one I think I'm suffering from Transformers fatigue. Not sure I can muster the energy for this one.

I hope it's good though. I'll blind buy the Blu-ray if I hear it's at least entertaining on some level.

Are you using IE? My computer has been having trouble with youtube embeds in IE for the last several weeks, not sure why it started all of a sudden. I get empty black boxes like you describe.

Works fine in Firefox or Chrome.

Sitting at 16% on RT. 13 fresh & 69 rotten. I love some of these reviews

"Transformers: The Last Knight" is another huge pyrotechnic porno that leaves a metallic taste in your mouth.
Avoid. At. All. Costs.
To be fair, The Last Knight is about 15 minutes shorter than its predecessor. But it still somehow manages to feel even longer.
Transformers: The Last Knight is like staring at a projected kaleidoscope for two and a half hours and then trying to tell someone about the plot.
I love that last review

I am not sure why anyone even review these. It clearly does not matter to anyone...

On a side note; I didn't see the last one do I need to see it to understand this one??

I just got home from seeing this and I feel like I had a lobotomy.

Honestly, even if you're a fan... rent it.

The best takedown is still from Double Toasted. They just posted their 30min review on Youtube:
